3:30 Don't forget the scenes where Captain Keyes is interrogated by the Gravemind and he uses his CNI Transponder to stay alive. The screaming you hear in the level Keyes? It's him screaming "NOOOOOOO!" when he runs out of irrelevant memories to feed the Gravemind, and he's defying letting it have the information it really wants (Earth, piloting ships and how to get to Earth). The second such scene was memorable enough to become the terminal in Anniversary you showed footage from in the video. Semi related note, the Flood is also one of my favourite Halo novels though in my case it's because it's a direct adaption of the game, which is what I like best in video game novels besides the expanded universe. (Adaption Expansion still greatly welcomed in direct novelisations) It's also why I like the book versions of the Assassins' Creed games too, and the Tomb Raider 6 book/audiobook.

That is possible. The reason they're not seen is because Spartans are extremely difficult to infect. Infected Spartans do appear in combat simulations used for training new Spartans.

We come the closest to that in SPV3 with Flood honour guards. Unlike Halo 2, elite honour guards in SPV3 are a lot harder to deal with as their shields are completely immune to bullets on top of being ultra strong, like advanced jackal shields. Now combine that with Halo 1 era Flood plus energy swords. They may not use armour abilities (aside from cloaking Flood) but it's still arguably worse than shotgun flood.

Just had a thought: what if we could use the flood super cells as stem cells in repairing/replacing damaged organs in other species? Even if cloning of organs is already a tried-and-true solution, wouldn't that make a cool side story? Maybe a rogue scientist or even ONI would try to use them as new medical tech and the facility gets taken over after an outbreak. It would make a good book or even a left4dead-esque spin-off game focusing on facility staff (guard, scientist, test subject, etc.) escaping and alerting the UNSC of the containment breach, helping the remaining survivors along the way. There could also be other species on the facility like elites, jackles, hunters and grunts that either help/join your team or turn on you along the way.
@HiddenXperia7 жыл бұрын
I've always wanted a Flood outbreak in an black tape ONI facility where they were experimenting with the Flood and its DNA, and yeah, the super cell would be a great way of doing it. Because it's undifferentiated I guess it could be used like stem cells are, but with my, granted, limited knowledge on them (learned about them a bit in high school and university), I'd say it might be a bit different considering they're FLOOD undifferentiated cells, but idk, I'm pretty sure we use animal stem cells with humans don't we? If so it's possible!
@bromodragone84054 жыл бұрын
As long as that base isn't on Earth. Maybe a space station/laboratory. Think "Dead Space + Metroid Fusion". Maybe there's an infected Spartan, showing that even they aren't safe from infection, as well as showing how formidable the Flood is. Obviously, we'd be using the infected Spartan-II design because the infected Spartan-IV design looks stupid.
@lionocyborg60303 жыл бұрын
That idea wouldn’t look out of place in a crossover with the Biohazard franchise. Maybe the Umbrella corp could try it after one too many T virus outbreaks. If such a crossover appeared in a game, it would have to be based gameplay wise on Halo 3 ODST meets the first person Biohazard games like Resident Evil or Village.
@MisterJohnDoe3 жыл бұрын
If Halo ever gets a “flood horror game”, that sounds like a good premise. The gameplay could be something like Alien Isolation or Resident Evil and you play as a guard or scientist etc.

The Gaming Snake I think in forerunner saga or some terminal mentioned that gravemind is telepathically connected to floods within a certain range. This is suggested by that in forerunner-flood war, multiple gravemind appeared throughout the galaxy which made the war even more difficult for the forerunners. Though I wouldn't say each gravemind posses it's own army, but I will most definitely say that graveminds are connected to each other in some way.

I haven't been caught up on every bit of halo lore and info but is there a sleeper flood form, like the flood infects a host and then instead of focusing on spreading it hides itself inside the brain so no physical alterations are visible, also while doing this it uses the host's memory to communicate. Imagine a mission where a spartan or marine though dead comes back and while everything seems ok once tons of people get near the host it explodes or mutates and infects those around it, now you have a flood problem on the infinity and have to stop it while trying to keep the rest of infinity from being infected cause tbh that's a lot of people and they're kinda important for running the ship
