Honestly, after kinda slogging through Teldrassil, Darkshore was such a fresh and unique take on a "Night Elf" zone. It felt haunting, The very name invoked a sense of foreboding and the numerous skeletons dotting the nearby beaches didn't help that tense feeling. Excellent video as always!

I generally play two race/class combos in vanilla: human warlock & nelf druid. Even on my human, as soon as I hit lvl 11-12, I make the long trek either hopping over iron forge or swimming the long way to menethil. This zone just hits such a magical place, alongside going into Ashenvale after. The ambiance both physical and musical, the quest lines and rewards, and feeling of exploration always bring me here. Based on the great forests of the west coast of the United States with trees reminiscent/inspired by redwoods, Douglas fir, sitka spruce and more, what isn't to love about Darkshore? In fact the entire West Coast of Kalimdor is gorgeous, even desolace too. The design team of vanilla did so well in capturing the magic of the real life counterparts to Darkshore and the entirety of Kalimdor.
