Jack & the Pack always fascinates me, especially because both that and TUGS share a similarity: 13 episodes and the rest get cancelled because of budget reasonings except for Pack, it was mostly HiT's claim that the spinoff of Thomas is too similar to Bob the Builder (despite me not being a Bob fan). For Safety First and No Dozer is an Island, I like how you came up with plot lines for them particularly the former as it would've given a great character redemption for Max and Monty and would've been praised by the other members and Ms. Jenny. In terms of the original episode outlines, while it is true we might not get to see the original scripts, but these outlines do feel a bit like scripts when you put it that way. By looking at them, it looks like they do have big plans to expand more of the characters and their arcs like Patrick who was only seen in one episode that was made and the rest of his appearances were faded and only mentioned in these cancelled scripts. Out of the lost episodes, my favorites are Bossy Byron, Importance of Being Patrick, Isobella Gets Steamed and Jack's Snow Rescue. I know you didn't like BB which I respect your opinion, though for me I actually quite like it and I like how it would've given Byron more character persona (being the Gordon of the group except he's a Bulldozer) and I prefer that over Emily's Adventure cause that doesn't work for Emily except for Byron in a way that totally separates him from the Pack in a good way. For least favorites, I felt that Pop Goes the Diesel is too repetitive of Mud Glorious Mud and that it copied the same title as a certain S2 episode (much prefer Thomas to the Rescue). Kelly's Heroes while I agree on some aspects, but Jack is my main issue with him not knowing about being safe even though he already learned his lesson from his introductory episodes in S6. I am keen to adapt a few of them for Great Sodor Engines sometime in the near future (particularly Jack's Snow Rescue for now), though even when reading the outlines, it is a little hard to picture what each scene would've been like. These edited pics you did of this episode does give a clear idea of how it would've played out.

2 things: 1st: may people write your ideas for Safety first and No BullDozer is an Island? second: I think George could work in Safety First pretty well, say Max and Monty's careless actions cause Buster to need repairs, yet the episode's project (building a new road bridge over a valley) requires a steamroller, so Miss Jenny borrows George from whoever his owner is. (let's say the lumber mill at the end of Bye George for a nice reference) to help out until Buster's back, and George is being all grumpy and reckless and arguing with everyone, even Max and Monty don't like him, then one day Max and Monty are taking supplies to the site and trying to be safe for once, when they see George swerving about, they think he's just being his rude self but soon learn that he's out of control and about to fall off the unfinished bridge, they manage to stop/save him and when the word reaches Miss Jenny and the Pack they congratulate the dump trucks, who blush due to how rare they get praised and the episode ends.

According to Robert Gauld-Galliers, Jack was originally going to be called Helpful Harry. In some promotional sketches of the Pack, Jack is seen with a backhoe arm and bucket. According to an SiF interview with Chris Lloyd, the arm was built but was too problematic as it was hard to store all of the radio gear inside the model. An interview with Phil Fehrle gives a very different reason: "...if a story required Jack to be digging (using his back-hoe) and interacting with another character working at the same time, his face would be facing away from the action. For story purposes, it was important to feature the faces as much as possible; thus, the backhoe was removed". An early concept art design for Oliver reveals his name was originally meant to be Buster. That name would actually be given to another Pack member instead. Oliver is the first character to share his name with another character in Thomas & Friends, and the second to do so in the entire franchise, the first being Bert and Iron Bert, the third being Bertram and Sir Topham Hatt in Thomas & Friends as of the thirteenth series, and the fourth is Stephen, like Sir Topham Hatt's grandson. Patrick was one of the characters that was originally going return in the CGI series but was dropped, the others being Billy, Dennis, Splatter, Dodge, Duke, Derek, Colin, Freddie and George. According to Robert Gauld-Galliers' concept art, Max was originally going to have a grey pipe shaped bumper. He was also going to have silver wheel arches and his headlights would have been on those Max's eyebrows are thinner and angular, whilst Monty's are thicker and rounded. Monty made his debut in the spin-off series DVD based primarily on the Sodor Construction Company. They are the last returning characters to have separate actors for the UK and US dubs. Monty is the only character introduced in the Jack and the Sodor Construction Company to have appeared in full CGI. According to their inaccessible page on the Official Website and merchandise character cards, Max and Monty's full names are Maximilian and Montgomery. Monty's TrackMaster model was only released in certain countries such as Portugal, making him one of the rarest and least produced pieces of Thomas merchandise ever created, though some models have been found second hand in other countries, such as the UK by Twitter user [3]@OTomatron. In the Model Series, Monty had a black radiator cap. Whereas in the CGI Series, he has a silver cap like Max. Isabella is the first character to be numbered 22, followed by Luke and Rebecca. Out of these characters, she is also the only one to be a road vehicle and not to appear in the CGI series. Isabella is the only original member of the Pack to not be manufactured by Trackmaster. Isabella is the only female member of the Pack that first originated in the model series. In earlier concepts, Ned's name was supposed to be Ted, which is also the name of Henry's fireman. According to Robert Gauld-Galliers, Ned was originally going to be female and called Sophie.[2] Furthermore, in the Italian dub, Ned is referred to as female.

I’ve got a bit of a theory as to what the finale to this was. I know you and lots of other people have speculated it to be No Dozer is an Island, but it and Safety First don’t have their outlines released, and there’s even a possibility that neither of them were written. I also noticed how only the released episodes have their episode numbers confirmed, and none of them were the 26th. With all of what we do know was cut, I’m thinking maybe Jack’s Snow Rescue was the finale. It’s nothing amazing like the entire main cast together, but it’s still pretty amazing within itself for how heroic Jack was in it. It’s a bit like Hooray for Thomas (Three Cheers for Thomas for those who don’t live in North America) in the sense that it’s nothing too grand, but it still feels really heartwarming and wholesome.
@nolancarey4500 Жыл бұрын
i always thought that Jack and the pack characters were similar to the steam team: Jack was similar to Thomas, because he had the number 1 and jack has 2 number ones, and also becuase he is a friendly, enthusiastic, helpful, frontloader. Edward and Kelly had the most comparable features to each other, because they had blue liveries, the oldest machines owned by a previous person: Edward supposedly worked on the Furness railway, and kelly was owned by miss Jenny's father, and most notably: they were helpful, wise, benevolent, hard working, and approachable. Oliver is the like excavator equivalent to Henry, as he has a big size, but is very docile. Oliver is also like Henry because he was build unlike any other Excavator/Locomotive, since Henry runs on "Special Coal", (being Welsh coal), and Oliver's lower half caterpillar tracks are recyled from a Russian tank's tracks. Next up we have Byron, a pompous, cocky, snooty, and boastful Bulldozer. this is why he is Gordon's counterpart as a bulldozer. but like Gordon, he has heroic moments like when he saved Alfie from sinking in the mud, or when he, alongside the pack, were restoring Great Waterton. Byron is like Gordon because he has a famous background. Gordon is a LNER Gresley class A1 express train, while Byron is a Bulldozer made by the famous multinational construction company Caterpillar. Nelson has always reminded me of James, because they both claim to proud of their looks: James' red paint, and Nelson's black, yellow and Red colors. however just like how James is described as being ''Vain, but lot's of fun'', in the engine roll call, Nelson can be just as usefull as any other pack member, like when he transported Thomas to get repaired when his wheels broke off. Alfie, of course, is like Percy in many different ways, being playful, cheerful, mischievous, and having a fictional design basis, but they have their moments, like when Percy pulled Toby to safety to prevent him from going over the waterfall, and Alfie saving the cat and her kittens from a collapsing building. Ned is the steam shovel equivalent to Toby, as they are careful and wise but still want to be useful. Like Toby being the only J70 steam tram left in existence, Ned is supposedly one of the only working Marion model 28 model steam shovels around. he also, like Toby, remembers from time to timewhere steam shovels were used for construction sites, but is thankful to have survived into preservation. Buster is the Aveling and Porter Steamroller version of Duck, as they are both proud of their jobs and also can be a bit boastious about their heritage, but they can get along with the other engines and trains around them. Now evidently, Max and Monty are unavoidably similar to Bill and Ben, because they can be reckless, troublesome, obnoxious, and also naughty, but they, like Bill and Ben, always learn their lesson in the end, and can be good deep down. Patrick and Spencer are both snooty, pompous, haughty, and entitled, but like Bill, Ben, and Gordon, his attitude gets him into trouble sometimes and he gets punished for it. and lastly, Isobella and Darcy are like Molly, because they don the color Yellow, and were shy at first, but later let their true feelings come out, and be welcomed into the pack with open arms, even though they can be clumsy, they are still really useful machines.

Kelly’s Heroes would’ve been so amazing to see as an episode, It’s a shame it didn’t get made into an episode. Though i can see why it didn’t get made, Everything is pulled from other stories that were made into episodes. Kelly & Isobella’s Dynamic and Jack’s accident are pulled from Jack Jumps in, Oliver & Ned’s Dynamic are pulled from Thomas’ Trusty Friends (Another Fine Mess), and Jack & Alfie’s Dynamic from this story is seen in the series 6 episodes. the only new thing is Jack getting annoyed at the constant reminders to be careful

19:22 I think they did it better in Season 8. Backfiring is a problem with the engine itself, not the fuel. Plus, the Horrid Lorries would make more sense then Max and Monty to bully Isobella. Ned and Buster are also steam powered, and the three lorries would be better at making Isobella feel threatened. Plus, Max and Monty deep down care about their fellow machines (Max was shocked when Jack bent his arms and both were horrified when Patrick fell into his own concrete).

These are pretty interesting. Maybe to avoid lazily re-using the title ‘Pop Goes the Diesel’ l, they should have either titled it ‘Bang Goes The Dumper!’, or ‘Pop Goes The Diesel: The Dump Truck Edition’. But still, a drill Alfie and snowplough Jack would make a good toy.

I agree. It's always neat when they stray away from the usual 'nice guy' persona to give them actual flaws in their journeys to development. Byron not only reminds me of Gordon, but also a bit of similarities to George from Theodore Tugboat.
