Wait, that's it? Imma be real I didn't check the run time, I thought this would be a long deep dive into all Dead Island lost media. I was really enjoying the narration and was ready for a 1 hour video detailing the story of all the leaks and what not. It's not a bad video, but for a title so good and catchy, definitely a missed opportunity.

In reality, there isn’t that much Dead Island Lost Media and I usually make 3-4 minute long videos to begin with… There’s not enough public info to warrant making something any longer in my opinion, but I’m glad you liked the commentary though! Honestly if this video got more views I would be more open to the idea of longer deep dives into gaming Lost Media, but the demand isn’t really there for it at the moment

Dead Island 3 should be disturbing to play through, brutal gory with a serious story and dark tone like spec ops the line, the combat could also be enchanced with realistic feedback and fast animations. That would be my perfect dead Island game anyway

Maybe its me but honestly i always found dead island to be pretty unnerving and with a great horror atmosphere depending on the map, i never really saw it as a goofy, camp or comedic game like dead rising could be. The city always had me feeling uneasy with its oppressive atmosphere of a towering concrete jungle and the outside areas of the lab always scared the living shit out of me when i heard a butcher or infected scream and speaking of the zombie noises the ones for the infected and the butcher always filled me with dread and fear especially if caught of guard and oh man did the city sewers teach me how to run fast before dying light was even a line of code. I wish techland had been given full reign to do as they wished with dead island, a tropical paradise turned into a horrific hellhole is such a good setting. The environment concept art you can find on artstation is also so ambitious and beautiful to and you can see how they scaled it back in many ways and still tried to keep the feel and when you compare to the DL1 concept art that almost always looks very close to the finished game you really get a sense of what they wanted to do in dead island.

Techland wanted a serious game. Deep silver said no. Techland finished Dead Island and made it not serious against their will. Techland left Deep Silver and joined Warner Brothers. Techland made a successful serious game. Then during and after the development of DL2 everything went downhill.

Major og DI fan, got the game as a young lad, didn't even know what game I was getting just a new zombie game u know? Boy did I max my character out to lvl 60 quick, DI riptide & DI2 to this day same thing. But to tell you the truth, I have never even sat down & put any time or effort into playing DL2... Played the first one, was neat due to parkour mechanics, but lost interest after beating it.

@@joseherrera8208 man, I remember playing DL1 as a kid because I saw my favourite youtuber having fun in it and you will not like how many hours I wasted just sitting and playing like an addict who just keeps thinking that he'll win this time but he doesn't know the machine is rigged for him to lose. I even refused to go to my cousin's funeral so I could play more DL. I finished the game but the physics, parkour, and combat were so addicting I couldn't stop. If you have the chance to play DL2 again I suggest you do. It will not feel like as much care has been put as DL1 but I gotta tell you it's going to be a good time with the new quests and the free DLC they give to anyone who buys the base game. Just don't talk to Harper or Shen Xiu and do their bounties since they're such a grind, it will not be worth it. Jai is the real man.

I saw a video of the old version of the game, it was really dark and gloomy. I would even say - unpleasantly gloomy. And I heard stories that Techland originally planned to make a more serious game, but under pressure they removed a lot of things from it - children, animals, etc. However, I think that Dead Island remained quite dramatic and gloomy. When I first saw the game, I was struck by the contrast between the bright picture of a tropical resort and the bloody drama and tense atmosphere that the game creates. In addition to the environment, the music and background noise create a very unnerving atmosphere. Sometimes it took me 20 minutes to go from the fighting mood with which I entered the game to horror, when I twitched at every scream and constantly looked around. And yes, I kept thinking how scary it would be if it was night on Dead Island, and how cool it would be if we could climb onto the roofs... from here it was half a step to the Dying Light :)

You're right and that part with the children being removed and techland aging up the character models of the other characters in the game was cuz there was a controversy then when they released that trailer featuring the family trying to survive against the zombies at the banoi resort and the little girl being infected and dying at the end that's why Techland decided to remove and not add children cuz of that and they were afraid that the game would get a ban by esrb for child violence.

I wish we had a prototype from that point of development, you could feel the darker tone in some screenshots with the color grading. Not to mention unused dialog and stuff made things way more hopeless, which retail still somewhat does but pretty sure in the original version of Riptide's audio files had a voice of what I assume was a child crying about their mother. Depressing stuff, some of the cut music also was depressing too. If DI1 got a remake I wouldn't mind a much more darker tone for the story and also fixing alot of the plot holes and other stuff like characters like Jin being more akin to her book portrayel (from what I heard it's much better then retail)

@@princessmyprincess4284 Unfortunately it’s not easily accessible on PC or otherwise I’d choose that version. The lighting in that version has more of the darker atmosphere the beta presented

@@backboardfilms There are CD Key sites that still list those games, that's how I got them. Best to get the ones with the DLCs included for both DI1 and DIR, also look up guides on increasing the visual settings beyond the standard limit and other stuff for the og versions.

I remember seeing in an interview that the story was going to be way more complex, with each of the four characters discovering secrets and uncovering the mystery behind the outbreak, but it was ultimately cut because they wanted to focus on co-op and thought it would be too distracting.

Dead island is a horror game, so is call of duty zombies, plus re5 and 6 too it doesnt need to be scary to be 'horror' we have action and comedy horror titles in movies which arent scary at all but they still fit under the horror genre like shaun of the dead. So many b movie styles horror films aren't scary at all, but they are horror thanks to the gore. A lot of zombie movies in general never really scared me but they are still horror franchises, horror doesnt mean boring stuff like paranormal activtiy thats the most lamest type of horror tbh and the equivalent in video games are all the walking sim horrors like p.t.

You're not wrong. My biggest issue with it is no analog combat controls and the tiny maps. But the biggest offense is that people say dead island 1 was not serious and "tongue in cheek" when talking about DI2s atmosphere. Like, Wtf? They either lied about playing the first one or are being gaslit by dead island 2.

Fr. Dead Island 2 sucks and basically became forgettable a few months after it came out. The music and sound in dead island is superior compared to dead island 2. Shitty ass sequel.
