Years ago, I got quite far in interviews for a very early reality TV series, and I'll say that producers keep in touch with people they see something in, even if they never cast you in anything. I had a good number of phone calls from a producer who tried to see if I'd fit into a couple of productions, but it never worked out, and then I aged out of most casting pools, so alternates and early boots showing up on later seasons or on other TV shows makes total sense to me. I think casting for shows can be a long, expensive process, so production companies keep in touch with people who have made it through background checks and such, I'm guessing.

My favorite lost houseguest story is the guy from BBCan season 9 because it lead to two different Kyle Moores playing in back-to-back seasons. Granted neither Kyle Moore was a great player, but it was a fun outcome.

I heard from a production assistant who worked on BB18 that a middle aged woman who was a psychic was on the cast for BB18, but she was dropped after having multiple freak outs during the sequester period. She was replaced by one of the other woman, but I'm not sure who.

That’s basically what happened with Michie in BB21, but he hadn’t told anyone he was in withdrawal beforehand. Had the producers found out, he probably would have been removed as well.

BB21 definitely had a lost twist. It's so crazy that Kat almost knew 2 people in the cast and Holly knew Kat and knew of Michie. And Michie and Ovi both went to TN. I remember people thinking they were bringing back the secret duo twist from bb6.

An interesting trend that I’m noticing with the alternate cast members that end up on the season is that the alternates tend to get in showmances on their respective seasons. McCrae, Clay, Kat, Christian, Clare, Joseph.

Awesome video. I made it pretty far into the casting of season 18. I was actually an alt. They acted like I was going to be on the show like 3 or 4 days till they sent me home. For like a year they called me for a few other shows but nothing ever worked out. I lived in the gym, I'm 6'4, from Tennessee and neardy. So I bet I was a good fit for what they wanted. Every few months they talked to me about coming out for another season of big brother (I assume that was they show they were talking about) but I believe they had some changes behind the scenes so the calls just stopped. Just being an alt meant I would have to be in solitary for weeks so I think a lot of people realize they can't do the show during solitary. I heard a woman basically freaked out and quit right before they sent the rest of us home. I definitely didn't leave by choice. I even tried to talk them out of sending me home when I realized what was going on.

Marvin was on big brother titans which was a conjoined version of big brother naija (nigeria) and big brother mzansi (south africa). Basically it consisted of 10 nigerian houseguests and 10 south african houseguests. They bought the hosts from both shows to present as well. he was part of the nigerian housemates and was evicted week 5. There's been only one season so far, im shocked to see him on this list. Also for this big brother, the public votes for who leaves, but the houseguests nominate (not just the HOH, although the HOH still has immunity) each houseguest anonymously nominates 2 people for eviction and depending on the number of votes each houseguest gets 4-5 people are put on the block. The public also votes for who wins the show. Also There was a save and replace veto each HOH got to save one someone from eviction and no one would know who was saved or replaced until eviction night

I don't remember the years but i remember the seasons. BB16 was my first full season I watched, and I was obsessed. I filled out an application for BB17. Probably was like 2 months passed before I heard anything back. I got a facetime call, talked to a casting producer. Then nothing again for like another month. I got an email with a date about a video call with like 4 or 5 people where they questioned me about every little detail in my life. They then asked me to make a short video showcasing my personality. Didn't hear nothing for about another month or two. Got a call from a LA number , had to meet with doctors to make sure my health was okay. Got another email about 2 weeks later saying i wasnt chosen for the cast but wanted to offer me a spot on Survivor. Not an official spot but asked if i would interview for Survivor due to them thinking i'll be a better fit for that show. I didnt interview because Survivor i never watched so i'll be going in completely blind if i was chosen. The year they did the web version of big brother they called and i interviewed again but i didnt make it far like i did the first time. I only had one video call with producers that time and nothing again. Now that i'm older im thinking i should apply again

Being that some of them would never in a million years go into the house (hence why they were dropped/got cold feet/quit sequester), some of them are point zero active on social media/obscurity etc. some were in breach of contract/broke rules/pissed production off etc., that leaves probably Christie from bb23 lol, which it turned out her covid test was a false positive, but sadly she later posted tweets/live streams of her talking a lot of shit about bb production, so hopefully BB asks her to return though, and gives her another chance, but it's sad she was cut for no reason. Then we wouldn't have had Claire and DX so yeah lol.

Eww, just Eww to Big Brother 21 cast. It’s the weirdest casting twist that they barely acknowledge. Kat/Holly/Michie all knew each other prior to get on the show. Jenna could’ve been a fourth wheel to this? And her last name is Jackson. So we would’ve had a Janna Jackson, Jackson Michie, and a Jack the asshole all in the same cast? Plus Ovi and Michie went to the same college at the same time. And none of this was announced as a twist. It’s almost as if the producers found out all these connections at the same time as us.

Big Brother Titans was a combination of Big Brother Nigeria and Big Brother South Africa. So it was 10 Nigerian housemates and 10 South African housemates. If I remember correctly Marvin was evicted in like the fourth week. The difference with Big Brother in Africa though is that the eliminations are controlled by public votes. Although nominations are done by the housemates. I’m not sure there’s a North American streaming service that airs it, unless you use a VPN

I know there was other shenanigans with season six and the duo twist. Besides, James and Sarah at the last minute. It’s been so long I can’t remember, but there was something to do with April and Jen and Beau and Ivette. Something like they weren’t really that good of friends or close before going in the house. I don’t know if that’s because they replaced another person that they were considering for that person as their partner or what. Two other somewhat potential lost houseguest are that both Drew and Diane also had identical twins and I think they were up for the twin twist from season five as well but ended up going to Natalie and Adria. Again, I don’t know how far Drew and Diane’s twins went in the casting process, but I know they were in it.

International Big Brother Time! Big Brother Brazil 19 had a contestant named Fábio Alano who got removed before the game started, he had a contract with a sporting brand and it was supposedly against the rules. Again in Big Brother Brazil, in its 12th season would feature a contestant named Fernanda Girão, who dropped out after rumors about her being a lesbian (dating an Idolos contestants) and being an alcoholic started to spread before the season started. Bg Brother Australia 3 had a police officer who dropped out and a decoy housemate named Tamara, who got featured in the launch night but never got on the house. Big Brother South Africa 1 would have a contestant named Lynne McCarthy who decided to drop to pursue a bigger modelling agency.
