I think the one mentality that prototype hoarders have is "If I dump this ROM to the public, then my own personal cartridge will automatically become worthless". My argument to those people (like that one guy in 2009 who had that one Super Mario Kart proto, PtoPonline with that one Lilo & Stitch proto demo, DreamTR and his Socks the Cat proto, maybe even that one Swedish collector whom Forest of Illusion bought that Dinosaur Planet proto from), is that yeah, without a proper dump, anybody will be willing to spend large amounts of cash just to get their hands on that proto, but; Just because one proto has surfaced online for the public to enjoy, that doesn't mean that your genuine cart/CD automatically lost all its value. On terms of playing it on actual hardware, there'll be some options, but not without their problems. You'll still have the source item that it was dumped from, and perhaps you can take a page from the Sonic 1 proto; Doesn't matter what state that proto is in, dumped or not, people will still bid large money for the ROM/ISO's original nesting grounds.
