Calling him a person is so right. People forget they are highly intelligent. Have their own social educate social structure to live within. Here we can see his frustration of being bested in a fight. That basically sends him away from his home and family. When we are hurt we act out. Throw things, hit things trying to figure out how not to be cast out. I hope he comes back. But he "will" be changed. Or he has created his own Troup somewhere else. Either is acceptable but he will be sorely missed. My heart goes out to you all.

Thank you so much for watching my film The Lost Person of the Forest. I totally agree - I also wanted to play on the words because orangutan in Malay translates as person of the forest, but in many ways there is more than one person who is lost and I hoped that would reiterate just how similar humans and great apes are.

This was a Great film. There is sadness but there is also a big chance Gendut has established his own area with a few ladies to visit now and then. The wild dominant male may be keeping him out of that area but it doesn't mean he went off and came to harm. They are resilient survivors, and smart.

Its great work that these people are doing and its amazing that these orphaned and captive Orangutans are back in the forest. However if they need to be fed to survive is that really a wild Orangutan? I am genuinely curios because to me its like saying you moved out of your parents house but you are really living in the garage and eating their food. Yeah your not physically in your parents house but are you really independent and moved out? Also does anyone think the wild male killed Gendut? Is that something a wild Orangutan would do?

@@deyaward-niblett8197 That's nice. Having been born and raised in Malaysia, I can assure you that Orang - a now butchered English pronounced word, was always referring to "man", and only due to recent political correctness, was "human", or "person" added to the mix.
