Important - Limitations of this medium

I can only use the assets (houses, industrial buildings, farms, stations, rails, scenery etc.) available either in the base game or generously made available by modders.
There are very few British models of houses, farms, cottages and shops of this period available for the game, so I have used whatever was to hand and I hope that the general impression is convincing even if the detail is not.
Some assets, like fences and doors, flicker. This is a TF2 problem and there is nothing I can do about it. Sorry.

Nice! I did not skip as the work to make it is so great, it does not feel right to do so. I reconise Shrewsbury from a visit in 1985 seeing the signalbox and the castle walls.

Anthorny. This lot must of taken hours to produce. Well done for sticking with it. It has been a facinating journey along the line. At the same time, you can see why it never lasted. There was nothing there. Once the Industrial Revolution moved away from the valley and the coal mines shut, there is no revenue to keep it alive. Atleast you efforts have made it worth while.

This is amazing ! I live in Shrewsbury and travel between there and Bridgnorth frequently - looks so realistic- you even have recreated the hospital where i was born at Cross Houses

That was lucky! I just plonked down some buildings where the Ordnance Survey map said they should be.

I grew up in Bridgnorth. From the mid 1950s until the line closed, this was a regular journey to Shrewsbury, where my mother was from. Early train from Bridgnorth,first stop was the children’s play area in the Quarry. Then onto the market building, fresh produce and maybe cakes. Then onto Auntie Gin and Uncle Bill who my mother stayed with during the war. Your video journey brought it all back to life, thank you. PS you were right to get rid of the bird song, much better without.

Watching me place a station, delete it and move it a few metres, delete it again and choose a different one, place benches here and there, curse about the lack of good British models for station buildings ..... it would get very tedious, my friend, believe me.

10:05 berrington station is still here as of today but it’s now private residence and the platform and the station building are still there

A fascinating recreation of a lost railway. One correction. The Potteries, Shrewsbury and North Wales Railway referred to at 19:30 opened in 1866 but was a financial disaster and was closed in 1880. It then lay derelict until 1911 when it was reopened as the Shropshire and Montgomeryshire Light Railway which operated out of Shrewsbury Abbey Railway Station.

Hi Anthony - what a superb little series - I even spotted a few mods I recognized :) If there are buildings / stations /assets you'd like a mod for just ask and I'll see what i can do (for this series or some future one)

It's an honour for me that you like the series. I use loads of your mods - check out my Metropolitan Line series and you will see NW London built with huge numbers of your semi-detached houses. As to wish list - there are two gaping holes in the British modding scene, as I see it. 1 - nowhere near enough housing, particularly detached houses and typical buildings in small town and villages, from late 19c to the 1970s. No agricultural stuff at all. Plenty of examples on Cities Skylines. And 2 - absolutely no British buses, coaches or commercial vehicles before the 1990s. I am on Discord (but find it rather intimidating to use) and find the endless discussions about detail variants on locomotives rather depressing, because just a fraction of that creativity going into background stuff like period buses would make a huge difference to the appearance of scenes. As to your work, the latest shops and pubs mods are superb, as is the cattle pen which I used the day it came out. Also your little stations series has been a life-saver when I tried to make some of the GWR stations which typically have small station houses. Many thanks

20:02 today the signal box still stands and still sees trains coming in and out of Shrewsbury and the Welshpool line and the Hereford line Also the arch bridge is still standing

Brilliant re creations and you can imagine how these lines were back in the day . Any chance of doing the bewdley to Tenbury and woofferton railway?would love to see it .thanks again for an enjoyable watch

At first glance, it was a long route and would be a huge amount of work. Also it seems that much of it was either in deep cuttings or dense forest, so it would not appeal to many people. But thanks for the idea, I'll think about it.

Thanks Tony and yeah i guess it would be a tad difficult to do .also routes that are walkable will always be easier to recreate. Maybe just to Tenbury might be a better compromise .thanks again for an.enjoyable journey back in time .

As Keikdv I did not skip either, I live in the city so it's good to see the greenery of the countryside.
