You two come over as very natural which really enhances the quality of the content in my humble opinion. (I know Elenor isn't in this one but you know what I mean - send her my love!)

My mate lives less than 100m from the current Lake station. You can see his house from the platform. Subscribed!

Hello. Sorry I'm only just getting around to your comment. Yes I believe there was, though I think it may have been a brickwards connected to the railway. Does that add up with what you remember? Many thanks 😊

What do we think guys? What is your definition of a station and does this one fit the category? Thanks for watching as always 😊

Thank you for the updated video of the Original Lake station. I, as you may recall was the person who sent the messages about the omission of that station. I'm going to slightly- as they say " piss on your cornflakes " There sort of was another, although I'm being a bit pedantic here, and it was at a major station, in fact the capital of the Island. Newport station as we know it ,was not on the original station site. ( we are not referring to the FYNR station here) Newport had a original, obviously earlier, station. It was almost in front of, but slightly to the left of the station that was there at closure of Newport in the 60s. Detail maps over time can be seen in the book showing original station site " Southern Rails on the Isle of Wight " Ian Drummond-volume one, page 50. There are very detailed maps of every station ( apart from the original Lake !!!!!) There is a volume 2. Both books cover the whole island. Probably the best, most detailed books out there. Includes details of position of buildings on site, water towers, cattle pens etc etc You mentioned in the video a book which you do not have. There are a set of them covering all the separate railway companies on the island, all Maynard and Silsbury. They are OL109, OL115, OL125, OL130, OL140. All incredibly detailed books There are a number of

Sorry about this-----Merstone station ( the platform remains are still there) unfortunately also was not the original. The original station (no photos or plans apparently exist) was on the opposite side of the road from where it is now. The " new" Merstone station was opened in 1895 and the old one demolished. In the previously mentioned book by Ian Drummond" Southern Rails on the Isle of Wight volume one. (2013) there are details.

Hello! Yes I'm incredibly grateful to you for putting me on to it! 😊 I did have an inkling that there was a previous Newport station on the site but never heard of a previous one at Merstone, have just ordered the books you recommended. Either way it's fantastic if there are more left to discover as it gets me out the house more to look for them. 😅
