My recent (5/14 to 5/17/2018) hike of the 60-mile Louisiana Trail.
Yes, you read that right, a 60-mile trail in Louisiana! Primarily used by ATVs, this multi-use trail is also accessible to hikers. As far as the organizers of this trail know, I am the first person to attempt a thru-hike of this trail and I completed it in 4 days. The trail was built and is managed by the non-profit organization Louisiana Trails. Their President, Doug Harris and Vice President, Ted Riser, were instrumental to my successful hike, by providing logistical support to and from the trailheads. The trail crosses through 4 Parish lines and several small towns. I plan to produce a trail guide for anyone who wants to attempt this hike.
I am pretty open with my likes and dislikes about this trail. I attempted this trip during a heat wave and that contributed to some of my struggles. Overall, I think this trail is a good challenge but do not expect a wilderness experience with a lot of natural beauty. This trail is a unique experience and I hope this video, and forthcoming trail guide, will help future hikers have a realistic expectation for their trip.
