"The Love Bug" gets 50! | Herbie Anniversary FanProject

After the outdoor presentation of "The Love Bug" on the big screen in Orlando this tribute video project had its premiere.
Finally released for everyone!
With this I want to honor the the 50th anniversary of "The Love Bug" and show a snapshot of the outcome of the movie 50 years later.
This is a pure creation of our community. I cant thank everybody who participated and motivated me in this project enough.

Reflecting on the past 18 years of my life, it was Herbie that has shaped me into the man I am today. It all began with seeing Herbie Fully Loaded in theaters at age 5, and it was the first movie I ever went to see. After that, I discovered the originals and bought them all in a DVD set, and I was in total awe at all the amazing things such a little car could do. Herbie taught me how to accept people for who they are and to never judge a book by its cover, and that has been one of the most important lessons in my life. Since then, my love for Herbie and Volkswagens evolved into a love for all cars and it turned me into a complete gearhead. I went from having Herbies in Forza games and drawing pictures of Bugs in the middle of class to eventually buying my own VW, a 2015 Beetle that I have affectionatly named Oxford. We have been on many adventures together from my first date, car shows, and even to being stopped in the middle of a country road changing out a flat tire, and he has essentially become my Herbie. Now, I am about to start a new chapter of my life as I go to college to pursue a degree in Industrial Design and hopefully become an automotive designer, and it is all this passion and dedication I have that I have Herbie to thank for. Happy 50th Herbie, we will always love you for the sad little bucket of bolts you are. ❤️

What if they mad a movie where the Nascar scene from Fully Loaded was only a dream since he dreams in Rides Again. He's still banged up but Jim fixed him before passing away. Jim's grandson inherits the car in his will and it's a family reunion. Herbie lives again thanks to Jim and his grandson goes through the same events the other owners have been through. Lots of nostalgia and it makes Fully Loaded like it never existed. It'll be called The Love Bug: Reunion

One time when I was probably 4 years old, I saw (what I like to call) the “tuner” version of Herbie from Herbie Fully Loaded in a Wienerschnitzels parking lot. It was quite literally the coolest thing I had ever seen in my life and now I’m sad because I don’t think my Dad took pictures. That or if we still have pictures if he did take them, or if the car is still around. But man, I love Herbie

As a air-cooled VW enthusiast, I was thrilled when the Herbie's 50th Anniversary group pulled into the Lakeland Classic VW Show on Sun March 17th, a day I'll never forget. It saddens me at VW shows, when I see children walk past Herbie and not realize who he is, and what he represents! Parents...introduce your children to the Herbie movies, it's TIMELESS!!!!!!!
