I love both your versions of the Cadence dress. They look completely different. The linen fabric is gorgeous and classy, whereas the border print is colorful and fun. I had already bought the Cadence so I checked my Love Notions account and the new version is already there. I am going to download the new version because I haven't printed out the pattern yet, just the instructions. Thanks, Whitney.

I thought for sure I owned every Love Notions pattern that I could possibly want including this little beauty (aka Cadence), but I was wrong! I made up the Harmony last year and felt it was a little too “drapey” for me when extended to make a dress. The Cadence, on the other hand, now that LN has extended the sizes, is perfect for me as I fall into so many size categories! Your two makes are amazing, Whitney! This is the perfect dress to showcase some fantastic fabrics and you did just that in such a super flattering way! One of these days, could you find the time to take us through the process you used in lining this dress? I certainly had an Eureka! moment as you were describing your method. Happy Mother’s Day!

I would like to understand the lining process better, too.

Yes yes yes, the dresses are lovely. BUT YOUR SHIRT! 🥰🥰🥰 The neckline, the color, it's amazing!!! If the top is a shirt (and not a dress), hear me out, what if you wore it with the green paper bag pants? And maybe the cream Metro blazer? The monochromatic outfit of my dreams 🥰💚💚💚💚💚💚😁

Love the neon green you are wearing today. Had some neon yellow with flowers on, ordered a while ago. Draped it over myself, terrible not my colour. Used fabric to test a simple top and finished it ,tried it on fabulous. My daughter was asking to size it down so she could have it, very disappointed I was keeping the top.😅 Still trying to work it out.

Did I hear you correctly? Do you feel the Cadence is more fitted than the Harmony? I love both of your dresses. I wish you were close to my location!
@TomKatStitchery2 жыл бұрын
Yes. The Harmony is fitted through the bust and then flares out. The Cadence, while not figure hugging, stays closer to the body.
@brenholmes48942 жыл бұрын
I have the Cadence pattern and love the shape, but haven't yet sewn one for myself because my upper bust is 36", full bust 39", so I don't need an FBA according to the instructions, but the finished bust measurement is 40". I don't want to do an FBA because my hips are 38" and the extra 2" from the FBA would be too voluminous for me. I don't know what to do, so I haven't sewn it up.
@TomKatStitchery2 жыл бұрын
I would try grading between sizes. You could make a size medium and just grade to a large at the bust and then go back to a medium at the waist.
@brenholmes48942 жыл бұрын
@@TomKatStitchery Thank you. I have considered that, but don't know how to go about managing the armscye and sleeve head. Cut those as L, leaving the shoulder as M? I am only just learning how to fit when I sewed garments earlier in life I fit the block the pattern makers used. Now I dont!
@TomKatStitchery2 жыл бұрын
@@brenholmes4894 I would keep everything size medium (including armscye and sleeve) and then grade from the M to the L at the underarm and the go back to M at waist.

Ok, so 2nd comment…..I’ve bought the pattern (through you) now onto muslin no 6!, (old sheets), I’ve done a petite adjustments, fits nice until I attach sleeve when sleeve looks as if it’s hanging off my shoulder! The shoulder is also hanging off my shoulder but is that because I’m not putting facings on? I’ve done so many I don’t know which way is up or down now! Just lots of tape! My shoulder is (3”) and my upper bust small (31”) …I don’t know how to make shoulder shorter or indeed if this is the problem! Can you help? Please?!
@TomKatStitchery2 жыл бұрын
It sounds like you need a narrow shoulder adjustment (especially if your shoulder is only 3"). I do a narrow shoulder adjustment in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5fMcpKKa8RnoJY . Let me know if that makes sense or if you need more clarification!

I love, love, love the first blue fabric! It would be daring for me as I’ve only ever worn black…or navy at a push! HOWEVER…..I cannot believe how wonderful you looked in the 2nd one, it really flattered you! Sorry, I mean I can’t believe it because it’s not one of MY colours….if that makes sense! I’m just going to buy the pattern now…..just one more question ie begging…please can you show us how to do the lining….I understand making a second version but got lost when you said attach…..my mind can’t work out how! With kindness Ps I’ve just bought it and thought I’d mention I hadn’t even given it a second glance when I’ve looked at this on the website before……perhaps you should be the model on the website! Hope that makes sense I’m rubbish with my words!

I see the term 'viscose" somewhat often and I really don't know what that is. Is it rayon or what? I've been puzzled about this a while. Seems only in recent years I've seen the term used. I've been sewing since the late 50's, both wovens and knits. Thx.
@TomKatStitchery2 жыл бұрын
Viscose and rayon are the same thing. Rayon is more of a US word and viscose seems to be more of a UK/European term.
@anneinstx19692 жыл бұрын
@@TomKatStitchery Thanks so much for the info and clearing me up. All I could think of was that the word viscose sounded like wood pulp to me, for some unknown reason. Now makes sense. Thx.

I love you, but both the dresses are not fitting you well in the back. They need to be a little looser in the upper back. They look just great in the front. I love the blue one on you.
@TomKatStitchery2 жыл бұрын
Thank you!
@cheriecz59942 жыл бұрын
Whitney, i've mentioned before, but you can look great from the back if you do the pattern modifications I suggested before. I'm puzzled why fitting your bust is your only concern. Your body is 3 dimensional and the sides are part of the front AND the back. You're not doing yourself justice. Hardly are you ever seen in a full front angle. Your garments hang beautifully from the front and are quite the opposite in the back. I'm sure your sewing friend would say the same if she thought it wouldn't make you sad.
@TomKatStitchery2 жыл бұрын
I do realize that I need a sway back adjustment. This does change from pattern to pattern and I had to make these up quick as I was a tester. I will make this adjustment to the pattern going forward.
