I just want to thank you for sharing your sewing knowledge and consistently putting up videos. You have no idea how much that meant to me when things were so "locked down" a couple years ago. I think when you were talking about the Cielo Top it triggered a memory of that time. There were a few sewing KZbin channels that I watched all the time during that dark time and the videos brought a little bit of sunshine and peace. I strongly believe that God works through us and I feel like he is doing that with you. Thank you!

Love your videos. I’ve been sewing for 55+ years and always learn something. I would love a video of fabric types. You always talk about different types of fabrics that I’m not too familiar with . I’ve been sewing with PDF for 10 years and it has expanded my sewing and fixed my fit issues with all the full bust adjustments I can make.

Where to begin… You look great in your filming outfit. Loved ALL your tops but that orange blouse-Wowzer! So I’m so inspired to sew again with that video. And I’ve been in a slump so that’s a really good thing. I feel like I had too many things not turn out and some of it was in such lovely fabric. (I’ve gained weight when I was supposed to be loosing 😠) I get tired of all the adjustments I need to make. The same as you it seems (at least from waist up). I’ve often wondered about learning to make patterns because some times it seems it might be easier…. Then to go to all the trouble and think you’re going to have a beautiful fitting top and then it doesn’t work is hard on the emotions 😞 Anyway… Thank you for your video!
@TomKatStitchery2 жыл бұрын
You are not alone! I have totally been there (and still have times when I have those fails). It can be so frustrating. However, I have learned that picking the right size and not overthinking the fitting adjustments makes a world of difference. Also, finding pattern companies that fit you better than others also really helps. Hang in there. Fitting does get easier!

Like you my wardrobe has been mainly stretch tops for years as I could never get a button up to fit. Just made the harrisin shirt which fits beautifully across the bust but discovered I've also got a short neck and actually hate the collar on me 😅. I'm in the process of removing it to make it justthe collar stand instead. I also avoid those shoulder type details like the plague, although I find a raglan really suits me.

It’s super easy to put together. The only area I got mixed up on is the shawl collar piece itself. You have a little extra to fold under and I didn’t understand that it was meant to be at the bottom/hem and not the armscye. Ah well. Next time. ;)

I know I shouldn’t make a comment about your hair which I love the style but looking at the picture of you in the Seychelles top with the auburn hair and what you have now, the blond watches your complexion out. The red that you are wearing is gorgeous. I hope you go back to the auburn. Some of my favorite woven tops as well! I made the Vogue 8772 blouse when you did the how to do an FBA. My blouse is gorgeous but not in my color palette since having my colors done…need to make a new one. I made two Seychelles tops out of linen-one in navy and one in off white which I wore all last summer. Not too fond of Love Notions patterns on me because they look “baggy sort of” just not flattering. I even made the Tessa sheath dress and it’s hard to define…just isn’t flattering on me. Everything by Itch to Stitch is flattering and her patterns are my TNT for sure!

Good video and recommendations, thank you Whitney. I am very similar shape and height to yourself and have recently watched a vlog by a stylist who recommended shoulder pads for bigger busted, narrower shouldered women. I have tried it, and she is right, it does make my bust look a little smaller 😂😂. Not a top, but have you seen the Christine Haynes Varda dress pattern? It doesn’t have an FBA unfortunately, and is very simple, but it has a french dart, which I have found very flattering. I’m not sure how to do an FBA with a french dart though, so this may have to wait a while.
@TomKatStitchery2 жыл бұрын
That's interesting! Style Arc just released a dress pattern that includes shoulder pads. I'll have to try that one!
@Barneysma2 жыл бұрын
@@TomKatStitchery I thought it was interesting as it is counter intuitive 😁. The stylist sewed a strip of velcro onto each loose shoulder pad so that she could fasten them around her bra strap and use the pads in multiple garments. Interesting too that Style Arc have released a pattern with shoulder pads, maybe they are coming back into fashion.
