Top 40 AM radio.... the incredible music 🎶 kept going around the clock
@NoviJimB2 жыл бұрын
I was born in 1960 and had several older siblings, two who were musicians, and a dad who listened to top 40 radio. I started paying attention to the radio and albums that were being played by late 1963, and once The Beatles came along I was hooked. I had no idea how lucky I was, that the most amazing era in rock history was going on. And it kept up into the 70's before times really started changing and the industry took over. The combination of talent and creativity in the industry was ridiculous. So many groundbreaking bands, so much versatility, so many bands with their own unique sound. We were incredibly lucky, and we'll have that music forever.

Amazing clip by an AMAZING band. Not many realize John Sebastian wrote nearly all the songs and that he churned out THREE Top Ten albums and the soundtrack to a Woody Allen film all in like a 12-month period!

He also did a commendable performance at Woodstock, considering he was asked to do a fill-in set only minutes before due to a rain delay before Santana's set.

I am fascinated by the contrast of the youthful faces of The Lovin' Spoonful and the aged countenances of the orchestra.

Wow! I didn't the expect the large orchestra, and in the background to boot. What a production. Sounds fantastic. Sebastian; such a fine voice for such a lovely song (with such a nice arrangement). Wonderful!

Unfortunately this is mimed. Still great though.

@@Meme-zc4cw - The orchestra is definitely mimed along with everything else except the live vocal, but it's a nice touch. Some of Joe's drumming is coming through and some acoustic guitar, but this is really good!
@hellogengammut28243 жыл бұрын
me me - so what? Does anyone actually care that it is mimed. Yes, the backing track is pre-recorded..most Sullivan performances are the same. Thats how it was...Just enjoy it.

I was in high school when this song was in the air waves. It's such an evoking song, but the line that says: "Go, and beat your crazy head against the sky; try, and see beyond the houses in your eyes. It's ok to shoot the moon," always fascinated me. Today, I am in my late 70s and over my college years and subsequently since then, I taught myself how to play the guitar. Darling Be Home Soon is one of my favorite songs to play and sing. Sometimes someone who was of music listening age in the late 60s will tell me (s)he remembers the song, and the memories it brings back.
@nnotny5 ай бұрын
Hmm, all these years later, I thought the line was "see beyond the hollows of your eyes". But even so, "the great relief of having you to talk to" just struck me to my core.

Is it "in your eyes" or "and realize"..."it's okay to shoot the moon"?
