The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Unless you're a Sage, Age doesn't count!!! As long as the music is young, we are young!! From '62 to '69, I went from 5th grade to high school grad. My life's soundtrack was forged IN FIRE during those years, and that same soundtrack is still my go-to comfort food! Oh, I've added many gems to it from the '70s to the 21st century, but check it out, The Beach Boys, The Beatles, The Stones(still touring 60 years), Led Zepplin, Eric Clapton, anything from Motown -fuck, the list goes on and on- All as relevant today as they were back when!! Still scoopin' up new crops of fans daily!! You get the point!! Excuse me, but I get wound up easily. Be young, my friend...

Indeed ! I remember sitting on my friends back porch, with several other young friends, playing records on her portable record player. The Lovin' Spoonful were just some of those we listened to. I meet the Spoonful through Steve Boone’s brother who was a school mate of mine at Westhampton Beach HS. My band and I actually helped to setup and break down the bands equipment when they played at Queens College in New York, on one occasion. I would once and awhile drive Mark Sebastian to school when John lived in an A frame home in East Quogue, Long Island, NY.

I throw the "Spoonful" in the same class as "The Animals". Not because of the style of music they did, but because you could always depend on them constructing well crafted, well performed "pop" gems...........and they never quite made it to the pinnacle of popularity ( Beatles, Stones). But man, they sure made GREAT music.
