...the original lyrics from the George Carter recording are: Ghost Woman Blues On my way home by that lonesome graveyard On my way home by that lonesome graveyard A ghost jumps out, “take my life, baby, for yours.” Wasn’t no ghost at all, some gal [original:brown] asking for a ride Wasn’t no ghost at all, some gal asking for a home Says, “boy, come here- take me to your room I ain’t no lamp, but my wick is burning low I ain’t no lamp, but my wick is burning low Trim my wick, boy, you will feel the glow That ghost woman, sure do keep me thin That ghost woman, sure do keep me thin Takes the money I get from the L & N. …Death, you’re gon’ steal this ghost woman away from me…

+Craig Edwards Hi Craig, Maybe you hear better than I, but I hear some of the lyrics differently: A ghost jumps out, “take my life, baby, for yours.” ==> I ghost jumped out, save my life, she was young. Trim my wick, boy, you will feel the glow==> trim my wick (be)fore it (re)fuse to glow) Death, you’re gon’ steal this ghost woman away from me…==> That joker done steal his ghost woman 'way from me.
