Try the TBD next. It's better, because: * all 6 bomb drops can be released in a dive * It has a fifty cal with 500 rounds of ammo * A very good turnrate * Extremely durable This gives you a very good defensive strategy: manuever-gunning. Dodge the attacking fighter and then enter your gunner view, pulling up with your keyboard. You can easily use its fifty cal to kill tanks by using your flaps (retract early to not rip them) at very low speeds to stall yourself out above a tank and then throttle down to strafe it out.

i still find the yak-2 KABB (or as i like to call it the Kebab) to be amazing.. 4 100kg bombs are fine for clearing targets. but in it's br the 2 20mm and 2 ShKAS mg's give it a horifying burst rate against all light armored targets

Yes. But IL-2 does the same, but better. - - Heavier and gets slow soon, but very decent low speed handling. + Rockets +++ Maneuverability. It can outturn most fighters. +++ Armor/much higher survivability. You won't get pilot sniped with a head on MG shot like you should in a Yak-2. And if you go to 3.0 IL-2... +++++ 23 mills, that just rock. They do just what you'd want them to do. Off the top of my head, 60 something pen against 20 something on ShVAKs. So MOST armored targets, not just light. It's so satisfying to pen tanks just in a regular low angle strafing run, without doing donuts to get the roof. You hold the trigger, and you see results.
