I switched to a swg pool years ago. While it's easier to maintain, it is WAY more expensive than a conventional chlorine pool. The initial setup will cost well over $1000. The cells cost about $1000 for a name brand, and in Florida you'll replace one every 3-4 years. If you buy a knockoff brand cell, that goes to 2-3 years even though the cost will be about $500...and they aren't reliable. The controls for the swg will set you back $500 initially, and it's not trouble free(motherboards fail and my cover has rusted out twice). And I don't know if it's just my pool or not, but I'm constantly having to add acid($10 a gallon) and baking soda($1/pound). I don't understand the comments about the swg pools requiring more electricity...your pool pump is running anyway, so the extra electricity is negligible. The swg pool is easier to maintain overall though(as long as the cell is working). Bottom-line: the swg pool will be more expensive.

Do you you recommend anyone that installs fiberglass pool in atlanta, Georgia? Thank you

you forgot about the CI tablets itself for the feeder systems. These do contains CYA which can creep up over time, making the Chlorine lock-out, inability to sanitize pools. Needs to drain down water to bring down the CYA levels to a managable level. I stick with Salt

A major con for swg….if you have a metal pool it will eat all the metal for lunch

Some people don’t consider this when converting a vinyl liner pool with metal wall framing to salt.

Another con for the SWG is that it raises the electric bill.

Go with a salt pool. Easier to maintain CYA and PH in.
