I remember when I first started getting competitive and going for yolo plays. I used to sit back and wait till I was "ready" also -- but that lets the other guy get "ready" too. I had another guy who was basically equal to me. Like disturbingly equal. We has a castle age fight with 3 knights against 3 knights in a 1v1. I turned the game by making the choice to build a single monk. The healing and converting 100% won me the game. We both hard castle rushed each other and tried to knight the other's eco, and we hit it basically at the exact same time. He was smart too, and tried to use light cav on me to get the monk etc. Its probably the most stressful and micro-intensive game I ever had in AoE. Felt more like league of legends or something. lol. @@nicermog My usual build order is put 7 on sheep, 3 on wood, and then add another 2 to forage, 1 to build more houses, and 3 more for assistance with boars. When I was a kid I used to play Franks mostly because of their strong paladins, cheep castles and free farm upgrades. Build walls, make castles and towers, defend, push with mostly paladins and trebs. Also I mostly forgot about my blacksmith upgrades until the late game. When not playing campaigns I usually played against an easy AI, made about 30 villagers and felt good. I had 1 production building of each type at a time, because why spend precious resources on on extra, when you have all the time to build up an army behind your walls? Also I think I had 30 villagers habit due to original game campaigns, where you had 75 population limit. And also due to Age of Empires I experience. I never ever used any keyboard hotkeys and had a slow reaction on idle villagers. Instead I collected all the relics I possibly could. Besides Franks I loved byzantines, britons, teutons and persians (for war elephants, of course). These low elo players somewhat remind me about those days, although I was too shy to try and play multiplayer. This series reminded me of my childhood. Played a lot of AoE with no idea what I'm doing. I just bought DE and I'll give it a try with a bit more understanding (not very much).

The most wholesome bit in this whole thing is when T90 said 'Type a kappa in chat if your micro is also like a 140-year-old Federer' and a FLOOD of kappas follow. With you on that one.

13:00 i guess thats what he learrned in the army. Solders have to walk up and down the "barracks" all the day to get strong :-) Is drill the correct englisch term for that?
@gunfighter01034 жыл бұрын
Yes
@jimland43594 жыл бұрын
Drill and train would both be acceptable. Drill would be associated with the military where train could be anyone.

Just played my first online game after T90's pep talk at 16:51. Got tower rushed, followed by knights. Still the most fun game I've played in years. Thanks, T90!

6:23 fat slob is my hero his videos are what got me back into age of empires after not playing for over ten years. sadly whenever I play multipyer I still loose, I'm able to get up to castle age at a decent time still slower then most and I still stuggle with hotkeys, I know the most common ones I use but not all, and anyway I struggle knowing what military to make the enemy always just melts my army with ranged units and if I try the same they just kill all of mine and I can never produce as much.

If you ever get worried that people get offended by you roasting their games, just remember that pub casts are some of the most successful videos out there across many games. My favourite one ever is from Purge casts a pub ep 17

The number one tip I have that T90 never mentions, Turn on tool tips they will help you SO much, they tell you what upgrades do when you mouse over them and the basics for units.

Yet when i tried to play I was instantly pitted against pros. Every time. I gave up ever playing multiplayer again because there's too many no lifers that just like to rofl stomp new and amateur players.
