What do you all think about this course for those of you that have played it? Are the reviews fair?

I enjoyed the course. The cart wasn't in great condition, some of the greens were bad. But I've seen far worse.

I like this course a lot. It' s pretty difficult with all the slopes and terrible lies you can get yourself onto, but it's a very interesting track.

Great vid, thanks for posting. My son is a Junior Golfer and we study these vlogs like you wouldn't believe. Some are really hard to watch but yours was informative and having the camera behind you on tee shots is so important so one can see the hole and its nuances.

I play this course few times a month, I like it. It’s challenging because of the slopes but hey, hit a good shot and you’ll be in a good spot 🤷🏼‍♂️

If people played the right color blocks corresponding with their skill, play wouldn’t be so slow. This course is not for the beginner golfer. If you are a +15 handicap golfer and had a bad time from the blues, that’s on you.

I loved this course when it was Summitpointe at half the price, but $95 to play now is absurd. The fairways and greens are in horrible shape. Basically the same conditions they've always been. The new owners didn't do anything except change the name and buy new carts that suck. Great video though, keep up the great content!
@GolfParfection

Thanks! Yeah after they put money into Summitpointe and changed the name to Bayview the prices went up but a lot of people agree it wasn't worth it. Now I think it's under new ownership again so we will have to wait and see if things can be improved. Thanks for watching!

Hey man! Big fan of the channel, glad you're able to showcase the courses around the Bay Area since I think we are surrounded by decent golf everywhere around here! Glad you were finally able to make a video on Bayview. I think your assessment is fair. But it is all relative. Pace of place is generally slow at Bayview at peak hours, but its the same all over more or less during weekend play. I have gone through 18 at Bayview in about 3 hours, and thats with my toddler. That said, it is a tough track and course knowledge is a huge bonus. But it is a fair test of golf - a good golfer can shoot 72 and 92 the next day here. Just depends on how your swinging that day. You have to "play" golf here, and 9/10 times you cant get away with bomb and gouge. My club plays practice rounds here, and from what I know mgmt has a bunch of projects to improve conditions and pace of play. Conditions wise, there's a few courses in the area I can think of that are in much worse shape. Final thought - that oxtail fried rice is fire!!!!! Hope to catch 18 with you sometime my guy!

I keep hearing about the oxtail fried rice I think I need to try it now! I agree with you that if you take a step back and see that it's all relative other courses can take long to play on the weekends as well. I'm thankful the course is there and that in a pinch I can depend on a tee time being there but I go into it knowing I need to bring my A game.

I used to play there back in the late 1970s. It was pretty tough with lots of sidehill lies, and the greens were very sloped on some holes. Local knowledge was important. I wouldn't give it a bad review, but I can see if folks want flat lies all the time (and no gophers) that some people might not enjoy it too much. I remember the back nine better than the front. There were very few houses around the course back then, so you felt like you were all alone once you got back in the hills. Very peaceful. Good job.
@GolfParfection

Back 9 is definitely peaceful! The slope is what I think catches a lot of people off guard I agree. Still not all that bad of a course just have to go in with the right expectations.

I remember playing this when it was Summitpointe with Eric and Fred. We could play for 45 and get a burger or hotdog, chips and a drink included. I have not played it since the name/price change. I remember how challenging it was and I cannot see playing this track at the price it is now. With that said, great bump and run on 18. Great round and awesome video as always. Looking forward to the next one.

Aside from the side hill lies, the strange blind lines you have to hit and the sloping greens, all of which can be overcome by some course knowledge, the biggest thing that I dislike about this course is that you are often not rewarded for good shots. You were playing when the course was softer, which probably helped a bit. Hole 4, I have no idea how you got that to stop on the right side of the fairway. I played there on October, hit a perfect fade up into the hill landing it 3-4 yards in the right rough and it slowly rolled through the rough and the. Continued rolling all the way to the left rough. Not a single divot in the fairway. Hole 12 is the same. You landed your ball in the 1 yard strip of left rough and it stayed there. Any further to the right and that ball goes all the way down to the creek. Holes 13-18 are all very nice along with 10. Overall, there are a lot more golf courses I enjoy playing more than this course.

I honestly want this course, as well as all others around me, to succeed because that equates to more available tee times for us golfers. I think Bayview is on its way and some improvements have been made but it's difficult to make the track fair due to the hills it was built into. Thanks for watching 🤙

Haven’t played there in about 20 years, looks like not too much has changed. Thought it was challenging and a little gimmicky but a decent course. At the time it was free for me as it was my HS team’s home course so I can understand some of the criticism. Still a course that I would play once again if I ever make it down there. Nice touch btw with the mic on the course, adds a layer of real-time commentary

I play there once a week. I can see it being ranked low due to specific holes (#3, 4, 8, and 12) and what used to be OB on holes 9 and 14 making it too difficult for most. Other than that I think it's a fantastic course with every hole being different and unique. Who wants boring golf with open fairways with no trees or trouble. That being said, management is great, food is one of the best (oxtail fried rice) and prices are way better than over priced courses in the Bay.

Definitely the gem holes on the course get overshadowed! I agree about the staff and management they were great. I need to try the food!

Honestly, Bay View has improved since the management change. This place was a straight dump when it was Summitpointe. That being said, they've done a great at improving conditions . Do I consider it as a good condition course? No, not at all. It takes time to make these changes, but give this place a few years and I bet you it will be completely changed. This course is a players course. If you're able to score at Bay View, you should be able to score at almost any other course in the Bay Area. I believe that the beauty of the pandemic was that it grew the game of golf. The downfall of that would be the fact that it put a lot of beginners out on the course. It's great to have beginners out on the course, but I do wish that everyone would imply that pick on max while playing. I think that would improve place of play a a lot. I also wish that everyone would repair their ball marks on the greens, almost every course I play I see ball marks. Almost any course in the Bay Area, you can expect a 5 hour round on any weekend. In my opinion this place is a gem and will continue to improve.

So many great points made here thanks for taking time to write this out. I agree I have seen the improvements made to make this course more playable. Its still a difficult course that will catch new and beginner golfers by surprise which can result in slow play. Hopefully in the years to come the improvements will continue!

I hate Hole 8 😂. Like you daid, very gimmicky, got to shoot iver the street to have a chance, and if you hit the ball straight, you run through the fairway at like 170yds. I live in Milpitas, and would much rather play spring valley.

Played first time in a tournament. A player's course. Need to be able to shape your tee shots, with an emphasis on drawing the ball. Distance is not number one. Putting uphill is also important. Unfortunately a course that borders on being unfair to the 15 hcp.

The course itself is not terrible but it’s a ripoff for $95. If it was $65 or $70 it would be more worth it. The carts are really frustrating and it also feels like they always setup gimmick pins. Pace of play is always terrible too. You mentioned it all.

Played here 10+ years ago. Looks the same from your video. Nothing has changed but the ridiculous price and new carts. The carts are probably where all the green fees are going to. I remember playing here when I was a high handicap because it was cheap. You can get a afternoon round for about $25. Absurd they are charging $50 for Twilight.

I don't rank courses on difficulty! I rank them on the conditions! I mean if it's in good shape then why would you rate it low. Pace of play is on the management to send a starter out to keep the flow going smoothly!
