The difference is that this play was reviewable, but only by the booth. When a coach throws a challenge flag on a play the refs are reviewing, they should just pick the flag up and continue to review it... Not penalize the team AND refuse to review the automatic reviewable play. Just a terrible rule. An automatic review should be, hmm IDK, automatic 100% of the time. No matter the coaches actions.

The play is automatically reviewed... Therefore, throwing a challenge flag means you are penalized and the AUTOMATIC review is no longer automatically reviewed. That was possibly the most outrageous rule/sequence I've ever seen. You'd think the refs would pick up the challenge flag and just say "hey, you can't review because it's a booth review" That 1 hurt a lot, but as a Lions fan, it didn't surprise me as much as it should have.

As crazy as these clips seem, most of the them are the product of a game of professionals. Every player is so focused on the ball at all times, regardless of their position on the field that they make plays with only a brief moment of opportunity. Not to mention the level of athleticism to secure the ball. This is why pro sports are so entertaining to watch.
