I think the fringing has to do with noise. Because it's 8 shots, it's gathering noise from all of those shots. I think because the camera moves the pixels, it makes the mode great for cropping. I noticed that when I zoom in 100 percent on the 96 mpx photo it appears to zoom in more than on the 24mpx version, which means I think it makes it so you don't lose detail. But I don't think you gain detail.

Easy to follow video. Appreciate this. I had my first adventure with Slog3. It didn’t go well. I thought I was supposed to overexpose 2 stops. My outdoor footage was blown out on A7IV. I then read not to go 2 stops, but 1.

I used the hires mode as often as possible for my landscapes photos in mode 2 and am very happy with my large prints 👍 When I had the GH6 I did that handheld!!! The S5 has the tripod mode only. I don‘t know the reason but might have to do with the read out speed were the GH6 is much faster. But that‘s only my idea

I think Hi-Res will really come in useful when shooting longer exposure photos in low light conditions.

To me it looks as though the hi-res pic is not as sharp, the pixels are smoothed out at the expense of sharpness. Unless you need to crop your pictures what is the advantage of higher megapixels, better off using a telephoto lens to do the job, 24mp is more than you'll ever need in your life time, as you said you can't tell the difference between 24 and 96mp.

It would be even more useful if all of the original images were also saved so you can manually merge them, giving you more control over the final image.

You can now do this handheld down to 1sec with the firmware update introduced on 24th October.

This is a gimmick. Ive tried it on al Lumix cameras and it doesn't work. Ive shot woth Canon R5 and compared it to Hi-res mode and the R5 is extremely more detailed. They should take this feature out of all Lumix cameras and give us something else
