In this documentary, Martin Maudal, a craftsman who makes guitars by hand, takes you through the steps of building one of his electric resonator guitars. You will learn about why he started making guitars and the time, effort and soul that is put into these fine musical instruments. All of Martin's guitars are hand made using wood he gathered from when he worked as a tree trimmer. Each has a unique sound and smooth feel. Check them out at his website. www.mcubedguitars.com. You can also contact the filmmaker at ralphteco@gmail.com.

Great video, nice to see there are still some real craftsmen making quality stuff in America. No doubt Martin is doing it because it's a passion and not for the bucks. Truly inspiring.

I loved your film, Ralph. It presents Martin an his work in such an artful, relaxing and enjoyable way that reflects the craftsman's approach to his work perfectly. I have a massive respect for people who create anything beautiful in a humble shed and, Martin, your guitars are gorgeous. The way you understand, appreciate and "believe" in the wood is fabulous. Well done both! GRoB.

I recently started repairing old broken guitar both acoustic and electric mostly refinishing although several have needed more work. I just made my first neck using the fret board from the old neck and in a day or 2 I'll string the guitar to see how well I did. Last night I started a neck that I'll do everything and I found a beautiful piece of wood that I'll use for the fret board. I'm looking forward to the day that my work looks and sounds as good as what I see you doing. Thank you I got a lot from your story.

Fucking awesome, I love how he just sprays his finish right outside his shop and carves the neck sitting on a bench. Great builder for sure. I like seeing videos like this because I'm constantly trying to figure out ways to make clean spaces for finishing and it makes me realize I'm way over thinking things sometimes.

I love that his methods are so 'primitive' so to speak. I've been watching videos about Wyn and Fedora Guitars, and I'm left feeling like a could never achieve that level of workmanship because my workshop also looks like an old shed. This sort of video reminds me that one does not require the best machines in the world to create something beautiful.

James Pickering Yes pretty basic stuff. Martin has some unique ways of using tools to get the job done with attention to detail and maintain quality. I am also a woodworker and realize its about solutions to creating what you want to achieve and sometimes it doesn't have to be the most expensive tool that is needed. Good luck with your work.

Ralph Tecotzky Beauitiful guitars with their less than perfect wood, knots etc. Do u own one of his guitars? Im curious what the scale lengh is and the cost, if u don't mind. They sound very unique, even with the compressed crappy youtube audio. Im a guitar builder myself....so it struck me, the way he builds, very similar to my process is very slow. Tough to make a living. No matter, he sounds happy and content lucky man...

johnnypk1963 I do not own one as I do not play. Just the filmmaker. I don't know the scale length and I believe they range in price $3-4K. Yes his process is slow and I believe it is tough to make it work, but he is very committed to the craft. You should contact him I'm sure he would love to share stories with you. His website is www.mcubedguitars.com.

Loved the craftsmanship that you put into your guitars, but the sound coming out of that amp is terrible. I will never get it why someone would prefer to listen to distortion i.e. fuzz box sound over the pure soft tone and voice of the actual instrument being played. Makes no sense to me.
