Great documentary! In many ways I feel a certain kinship: I am a classical guitarist and my father was a cabinet maker. We always dreamed of building guitars together, but it has become too late. He is 96 and we no longer live in the same part of the world. Thanks for making this video.

Thanks Jackson, good to hear from you! If anyone is interested in hearing the guitar that I was working on when this video was shot, it was made for Jennifer Kim, who has a number of KZbin videos.

This is a great video. I love to see and hear the passion with which truly creative people describe their craft and that is captured so beautifully in this film, and the guitar playing for the credits is fantastic too. Thanks so much; it's so nice to see something of real quality on KZbin.

+grobbo64 Thanks for the feedback, appreciate you taking the time to watch and learn about Jack's work as a guitar maker. It was a privilege to get to spend time with him and learn about how he builds guitars.

I buy most of my wood from LMI and Allied Lutherie, then age it for 5 or more years before using. Also, check out Gilmer Woods in Oregon and Savage Woods in Texas for thicker boards to re-saw. Gilmer often has aged woods. Always be on the lookout for unique boards, and jump on the opportunity when you can - you'll always regret not buying unusual wood, regardless of the money.

I thought the guitar sounded very nasal, but then in the end of the video it became clear the sound did not come from an acoustic guitar! What a relief.

Hmmm..... I wonder if more Luthiers had roots in furniture building they would be more apt to use a tenon joint to attach the Guitar Neck to the body of the instrument? I am pretty curious about the huge internal Neck/Heel block that Fleta uses has a tenon opening for the neck.
