I’ve noticed it slow down too, things up for sale for longer and being sold for lower too. I think it’s actually a good time to buy preloved (with due diligence of course) especially with the price increases at the boutiques❤

Me too! I’m just keeping my collection as it is. I hate selling bags anyway and I think I bought 1 bag on the pre loved market since I have a hard time trusting the sellers. FJ it is for me unless I get offers from Hermès.

Totally agree! Plus the service IS THERE! When I compare f.e. the service I my local Bucherer Boutique to Hermes/Chanel etc. is like day and night! I am totally not willing to spend any more dime on bad customer service and a rude behaviour whatsoever. My bag collection is completed and I will now spend my money only on fine jewellery etc.

I tried two different instagram sellers and both of them turn away from my items. Ysl card holder in black gold hardware and a LV wallet, both in excellent looks like new condition , and I have a great used condition LV monogram noe bb. I’m shocked that they told me they pass. I didn’t know consignment turn away from great to almost like new condition items 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

TheRealReal closing some brick and mortar stores is an indication the market is softening. With inevitable price increases in the boutiques but also with the competition from so many Preloved retailers, the market has changed. What is your current direction? I think during Covid and the lockdowns, I couldn’t go anywhere, cooked all our food, and was at home 98% of the time. So I was bored and had more discretionary money (vacations cancelled, Covid relief payments) so I shopped online a lot! Buying and selling gave me something to do I guess. (Sad I know) I’ve got just a few LV bags but several Coach. I love my LV bags but there’s something so easy and worry free about the Coach bags. Now with the prices of these bags being way over $2k, I’m kinda over it. I don’t really even carry my bags now because I’m still teleworking most days. So like you mentioned, here I am with some fabulous LV bags that I hardly carry and can’t sell for close to what I paid. Life lesson I guess!

During lockdown is when I sold all my stuff 😂 I kept a few that I REALLY love. I have 5 bags total. All of them very different. I even sold my scarves and some clothes. I have a few things that I’m trying to sell now but it’s very slow. Nothing major, the last odds and ends. So I’m glad I got rid of my good items when I did.

Never do after pay, if you can't pay it then and there you should wait and save up the money. Payment plans are always making you pay way more for the item (30-60% more over time). NEVER EVER do it, save up and then buy and you will save money on doing so.

The continuous collections coming out combined with poor quality issues have ended my interest in buying new at Louis Vuitton. The prices are insane. That weird ad campaign with Kering also caused me to rethink my purchases at Gucci. My husband is adamant about the customer profiling with Hermes. That leaves me shopping pre~loved but I need to shop my collection for a change and be content with what I have. I hope you hit 10,000 soon! Your channel has grown in the last few days.

All markets right now. I have a hard time selling sneakers right now. The market fell off compared to last year. People are not spending as freely right now. A good time to pick the pieces you want on a discount. The market should bounce back. It may take awhile tho.

I’ve just purchased my very first designer bag and matching wallet (from the pre-loved market) and I can say I’m very in love and that itch was definitely scratched for me! For me being a young mom, I don’t have a huge amount to spend so preloved vintage bags that aren’t in a huge demand will be my go to when I do want to buy!

I think it's harder to sell and we're getting less money. I just sold my Celine mini cabas tote, and I only got around $750 for it, when I spent $1700 on it and it just went up to around $2000 in Canada, so things have definitely gone down.

Your analysis is correct . I stopped buying handbags since 2022 and I am focusing now on enjoining my curated collection. As long as Chanel keeps raising the prices dramatically the resell market will always be strong and the prices will remain high IMO

I've noticed that the very top end of the market has really come down. For fun, I browse excellent or new condition Hermes Bs and Ks on the large reseller sites. And bags that would have cost 32k (US dollars) two years ago are now down to 24k. That's a significant drop.

I think pre-loved market is oversaturated and I’ve notice the decline in prices for vintage Hermes bags on these sites. Personally, trying to sell a few bags I no longer wear and no luck so far. Surprised that my Chanel Maxi in nearly perfect condition just sits there, considering the retail now is over 12k and I’m trying to sell it for more than half off 🥺😮‍💨

@@GemmaGraceStyle I may be wrong but Poshmark doesn't seem to be the go for luxury there's a lot of fakes in there from what I've heard. Maybe take your Ebay ad down take different photos and reprice later. People if they see an old ad will bank on you sweating. Also if sending an item, video yourself packing it showing serial numbers etc then placing it into the post bag and posting it in the same take. Insure it. Otherwise there's a serious risk scammers will either send it back with a fake or claim it never arrived or was fake. If it's eBay you can find they side with the buyer. You may do better at high end auction houses?

From what I observe Saint Laurent is hot, Loewe too, it holds the value. Chanel is definitely down. YSL is a new Chanel actually, for style, occasions and price range (USD 2600-3500), it's what Chanel used to be. People also buy old well crafted and very practical Chloe, BV. Hermes is listed for high prices but sellers start sending you offers with deep discounts, except for collectible pieces and new trendy sizes and colors. I can't speak for all brands, these are few I'm tracking.

I put up my mini for sale on eBay and got a lot of good offers . I don’t do fashiophile anymore , they are low balling people and very agresiva with their profit margins. Last bag I sent to them, they flipped it for more than double of what they actually paid me , and the item sold.

I would recommend selling on Poshmark, I had good luck so far. Just be aware that they take 20% fee, which is better than Fashionphile. They also authenticate luxury bags over $500, before shipping it to the buyer. Not affiliate with Poshmark but sharing my expierence. Good luck everyone.

Honestly, during lockdown I bought 2 LV bags (sold 1), bought like 5 chanel wallets, a bunch of different brand bags (e.g. loewe, marc jacobs). Overall, I think I tried realizing I need to slow down and think about my current collection while at the same time think if a Chanel bag even worth at this point.

Wanting top dollar bad condition bags. I recall when FP was the place to get a good deal. Back in 2020/21 I got my black CF ghw caviar for 3,800 excellent yr 2010. The interior is black.

With the rising interest rates still going on, ppl are fearful of bank runs again, eventually recession. It doesn't help that Yellen has said regulators won't put blanket guarantee on deposits too. Thus sellers are frantically selling and buyers are not purchasing.. My guess 😄

I think seasonal items are less likely replicated. Mostly classic flaps. You have to almost go into it knowing there’s a chance. And decide if you spend the extra few thousand on one from boutique.

I agree with u that the resell market is stagnated at the moment 🤗❤ Early this year. I decided to sell all my display bags. That is the Mini Rectangular and all my colour Chanel slg and 2 LV wallet that the canvas have curved up. My LV wallet sold very quickly as Emier asked me to half my asking price. Which I did. Also, my Mini Rectangular 21P gold sold very quickly. The rest just sold the next weeks or so. Since Chanel aggressive price increased on 1 March. All my Chanel sold in Emier. I think if we price the item right. It will sell. Also, the item I own is mostly Mini Rectangular and classic slg. 😊

The market is changing and i do see that items on the preloved market do not sell as easily as they did a year ago. Economy has a lot to do with pre-loved market roll-over. And, for sure, the replica market also scares some to buy preloved purses or apparel. The replica market is just scary. Imagine buying an item for thousands of $ and realizing it's not authentic.
