L is one of the most loved anime characters I can think of. Most people I know who watch anime like deathnote or have seen it. He is pretty well rated.

Great mix , all though I would not say that L is a lying monster , he was actually pretty nice to most characters in the anime .

In his monologue about monsters after he talks about the lying monsters he says that if he would encounter such a monster he would be eaten by it because "I am that monster". Also the way he behaves in front of people is sometimes meant to see their reactions and he can also be quite manipulative if he wants to.

L is almost a compulsive liar but not really because he intentionally lies with nearly every breathe he takes because he's so fixated on how people will react to things and also pulling out information from people right from under their noses

@@sam-ht6qv I quess I just prefer him more. Plus, at least L recognized the fact that most of the things he did weren't because he wanted to make the world a better place, but simply because he wanted to be still considered the greatest detective, while Light always thought that he makes the right choices even when he started to kill the innocents. One of them thought that he was a God, while the other knew that he was in fact a monster all this time.
