Avi said it was written to appear as a first person love story but it is really written about everyone having a love story with their phones and computers. He admitted he is far too attached to his phone and his excessive use of it.

Thanks for your reaction - it just popped up in my feed????? Yeah, I love his writing and voice. Others have explained his explanation of the meaning ---- but I also think it could be a bit of both. Again, thanks.

Avi said in a short about this song that it is about our dependency with our electronics. I, like you, think it is a hybrid of our electronics addiction and maybe his real relationship.

The Stepford Wives - a novel by Ira Levin in 1972, made into a film in 1975 - deals with the idea of the robot 'wife' designed to please men. It's not necessarily what Avi has in mind when he wrote this song but that's what it reminds me of.

Speaking of Avi and mentioning Bladerunner, Avi does part of the sound track on Blade Runner 2049. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2TYiHuqitCIpas He is using his overtone tone abilities and goes deep.

Wow, great reaction and interpretation! I love this song and the underlying (if that’s the correct term) robotic sounds in some passages of the song. To me, the long outro is a symbol of us losing our souls to modern technology. Link to the short that is mentioned in another comment: kzbin.infoW84sFItEkkU?si=FHyqoR6bGmLR-rjs Avi says that he is sometimes surprised at people’s interpretations of his lyrics but he doesn’t mind as long as his music helps people. Death of the poet, I suppose?
