I find it funny that you can do heavy load, considering how reliant the Garand was on using standard M2 Ball ammunition. It's one the biggest downsides of owning one, is that using modern 30-06 ammo can cause the oprod of the rifle to bend unless you get a custom gas plug.

Actually, you can technically still top off an M1 IRL. Hold your hand over the receiver to block the clip and start inserting rounds. Bloke on the Range explains this weapon in unprecedented detail in "What ain't necessarily so about the M1 Garand".
@MosoKaiser5 жыл бұрын
Was thinking the exact same thing. Still, the way most (if not all - has there been a game you could top off a Garand, btw?) games depict the reload is arguably quite accurate, since soldiers with M1s would have had their ammo loadouts primarily in clips, having loose rounds likely being more of an exception than the rule. And no one in their right mind would start fiddling around taking cartridges off clips in the middle of combat to top off. Fired one or two rounds? Still plenty left. Down to just a couple? Just fire those off and pop in another clip of eight.

I like the attention to detail on the Garand in this game. The ping is accurate and doesn't sound like a typewriter being thrown against a wall. As much as I want to resist, I will criticize this: At 0:51 you see the player eject a partial clip holding two rounds, one of those would have been in the chamber and been kicked away by the extractor. The other would not "stick" to the clip like the two rounds do as it pops out. You can see 4 rounds sticking to the inside of the clip (again, one of them would have been chambered) at 1:09 as well. Still, a much better job than most games that do an M1 garand.

Fun Fact: the M14 is basically a short barreled M1 with a box magazine.

I didn’t put a sight on my M1 Garand except when I was doing my Mastery Challenges when I had to get people from over 50 meters but when I’m not doing the challenge I refused to put a sight on it

WW2 = PPSh-41 I've literally never thought of Garand as anything more than just another rifle

The M1 sucks, just a reskinned semi auto.

Idea to make firestorm more fun: in squads, when your teammates go down, they become invicible. they do have to be revived within a certain amount of time or they die. Also while down, they can't knife or shoot pistols. This would help solve the no respawn/thirsting problem.

It feels great to have the ol' M1. I'm not even American but it did feel like something was missing without an M1. It would like if we didn't have some of the other iconic WW2 arms like the Lee-Enfield, Sten, Bren, Mauser, MP-40, STG, MG-42, Luger, and 1911 that are already here. Now we just need a Mosin, Ppsh, and a Tokarev.

You can turn the clip in the m1 to make it fire 1 round at a time so if you find a round on the floor or just have one bullet you can use it still

Maybe not you jack but what makes me feel like I'm in a ww2 game is carter air raid sirens, Jericho dive bomber sirens and the sound of propeller planes bussing overhead not to mention burning cities. The ping is a nice touch though.

They should made the M1D scope varient for the scoped M1 garand for authenticity.

The ping of the clip ejecting actually was audible. When the allied forces invaded the Japanese islands, Japanese soldiers actually learned to wait to hear the ping in order to ambush a reloading opponent. The allied soldiers then learned of this tactic, and would take empty m1 clips and throw them against rocks to mimic the sound of a reload, then Japanese soldiers would ambush, but would stumble upon a bunch of soldiers with fully loaded m1’s.

My father swore by the M1 and said there was never another weapon that changed so much in a simple design - rapid fire, 8 rounds and could shoot straight for 100s of yards with the 30-08 round. They had it in WW2 and Korea as well.
