Happy Saturday Stewie & thanks for this interesting video. I don't own an M16A1 but am very familiar with it from my time as an IDF infantry reservist. My unit was issued with it in 1977 as a replacement for the Israeli license built 7.62mm FN FAL rifle, which was the mainstay infantry battle rifle at the time with most reserve units whilst front line standing army units were equipped with a mixture of M16A1's and IMI Galils from 1974 and from 1975 reserve units began to receive the M16A1. I personally, as a squad leader, until then was still issued with the 9mm Uzi sub-machine gun but in 1977 all our Uzis & FN FAL's were replaced with refurbished M16A1's from US army stockpiles for all ranks up to and including our battalion commander a Lt. Col. The only other rifle we had in limited numbers was a marksman version of the M14 with a bipod & a few had telescope sights. In general I was very pleased with the M16A1 & our versions were fully automatic and we were issued with 30 Rd mags rather than the US standard 20 Rd mags. In 1982 I used my M16A1 in combat during the 1st Lebanon war, it performed flawlessly. Over the remaining years of my IDF reserve service I was issued either a standard full auto M16A1 or a number of times during my annual one month to six weeks of reserve duty with the short barrel M16 Colt Commando version as this version became the standard weapon issued to Officers & NCO's. Steve, I also have an UZI and FAL parts kit. Just haven't gathered all the parts to put them together. Especially with all the hoops to make it semiautomatic, as is required by ATF.
