In this video I take a first look at the M5 Stack M5 Paper. This unti was kindly sent over by Banggood, check it out at the link below. The M5 Paper is an ESP32 based board with a fantastic e-paper touch display, and looking at its raw stats is quite impressive; 1150 mAh battery with built-in management, wifi, bluetooth, a cool sliding switch and the fabulous 4.7 inch touch e-ink display.

Look after Conway's Game of Life if you want to know what the game is. Tip: It‘s very inspiring. The goal of why the game is installed is to show the refresh rate which is decent but good enough. Greetings.

The game is the "game of life" its more a game you watch rather than directly interact with ! luckily for E-Paper, I personally don't see much use for this device, apart from displaying the temperature whilst hanging on the fridge door ! but I look forward to you proving me wrong, nice description and teardown !...cheers.

Just bought one from aliexpress. I’m excited to use it for all sorts of things. I really wish it used a resistive touch overlay so I could use a simple stylus and make a pseudo PDA. Maybe it’s possible swap out the overlay, who knows.

Weren't we promised like 20 years ago that we'd own one book made of e-paper that could be used to access all of our digital books? Still waiting. (I'm old-school and still prefer to page through a physical book)

I'm currently developing a Universal Remote Control Hub (something similar to the Logitech Harmony Hub) and I intend to use an M5Paper as a remote control.

I can see these being used as an alternative to a kindle. Can read books in the sun and have basic things like calendar, calculator, notes etc. I'm sure that anyone getting to grips with those programmes will come up with lots more ideas

Does it have bluetooth? The text editor might be way more usable with an external keyboard.

Not UV resistant, and no info on how long battery life lasts. Python isn't a good language for something small like this. Should be using Arduino library. I wouldn't pay $100 for this thing.
