The Mack reminded me of one of my own experiences. Years ago I had a Mack CH 613 with an E 427 in it. Over weekend at home I put a straight pipe on and went back to work on Monday. It sounded much better but I didn’t realize anyone else could notice. That was until I was haulin a load of cars over a hill (in the hammer lane) and a driver I had passed came over the radio, “When did the Air Force start haulin cars? Haaahaha! Made my day.

Those MP8 D13 engines are know for injector sleeve problems and volvo has redesign the sleeves and the tooling required to install them and they have released revised procedures. I have seen people have failures multiple times and it was due to not using the correct tooling or procedures for installing the sleeves. Volvo also has a specified sealing compound to be used when installing the sleeves. There is numerous service bulletins released by Volvo.

Hey Tim you can get solder pellets at Napa whatever size cable your working with 2/0 throw the pellet in the terminal shove cable while heating till it’s home makes it a little bit easier, and ensures your getting the terminal completely full of solder

You can buy the solder in plug form and just put the plug in heat it up and put the wire in. The plug is the right amount of solder for each size of wire ends. You need a 8" or 10" stack on it .

If you buy copper tubing instead of the cable ends. Flatten the copper tubing on the end drill the hole you need then cut it off you can make end for cheap.

gotta spray the terminals and inbetween the connections with battery terminal protector CRC red spray. Ever since I used that there's zero corrosion because it sucks having to go through those terminals every 6 months or so and clean them with a wire brush.

Use dielectric grease on all the post and nuts to keep moisture, and air off of them, and you'll definitely reduce the times you have bad connections due to corrosion getting in between the post and your lugs. Are just axle grease, but keeping the air off them is the key to stopping them from even starting to get corroded

Take it from a plumber that has soldered for 30 years if you put the solder in water before the solder solidifies at least you can make the solder cool to fast and create cracks in the solder it will also jump out of the joint and you will find it in the bottom of your solder bucket it's a a matter of waiting a few seconds or compromising the joint
@maxpuppy96

I soldered for years too and your right, when I do battery ends I put the eyelet in the vice and heat in the vice put the solder in then hold the wire until it setups. Never used water.

Hay Tim on a previous video. you came to Canada.....Drove past me on your way to Lakefield. Words of advice.....Don't send a truck with straight pipes or one that smokes to Ontario. Like California we have Emission standards and that could have your truck taken off the road/impounded. So so strict they have people who drive around looking for infractions( Fresh Air Cops) LOL

Man you need to silver solder it is a purer solder! We did the same procedure 40 years ago but with silver solder not resin solder. Then again we did a lot of crazy stuff. We use to rebuild our own batteries! Changed plates, lead solder or lead weld with the torches. Good times back then!!! Straight piped my 95 Mack CH613 and installed over sized injectors. Was complimented many times on the macks exhaust.

I do my cables a little bit different . First a good cold weld hydraulic crimp where the lug tapers I drill a 1/8" hole put a few drops of Electrical Flux in then dunk it all the way in solder pot till it stops bubblen pull it out let it cool wile dipping other cables.. You get a strong Mechanical and Eletrical bond that keeps the acid and corrosion out. Then heat shrink them when they cool.. Not saying anyone is wrong . This the way I was taught to do it buy some old school shoot out guys.. Rob is a Smart Guy . More Ground and Shorter Hot wires is allways better

9:46 hey TIM... during the TWSTIN AND FORMING STAGE... maybe might be a good idea to plop a little big of SOLDERING FLUX down into the connector so it gets all up in there during that stage... and try to use the connector to do the twsiting, less oils on it more connectin it will be able to do? that kinda thing :) ONLY think I would prolly see about tryin to do is HEAT UP THE WIRE a tad bit before inserting... if you have another set of handd... NOT DIRECTLY IN THE FIRE, up above it to WARM IT UP not realy HOT ENUF to melt solder, but to help it flo no better, maybe if it needs it for EVEN MO BETTER CONECTIONs ... (like a few years down the road you notice corrosion where it should be all soldered in there? sompin like that pops into da head) BUT MIND THE INSOLUTION .... prolly should use some of that HEAT SHRINK with the GOO IN IT to make a ''weatherproof'' connection for the ''perfect look'' .....
