Yes, horses should stand while you mount and after you’re on. Thank you Beezie. This is actually such an easy thing to teach a horse it just takes consistency. It’s also nice to see someone teaching a proper dismount. I see a lot of people taking the right foot out of the stirrup but leaving the left one in and dismounting with the left foot in the stirrup. That is so dangerous.

Aww, Derry Lou! He looks so sweet! No one prepared me for how difficult a proper dismount is- I had always kept the left foot in the stirrup... But that is dangerous for obvious reasons, haha. It took me 5 lessons to do it cleanly, I kept catching my leg on the cantle- I am getting better, though! Practice practice practice... Although riders like Beezie make it look SO easy, haha! I have never mounted with a leg up before, she makes that look so easy as well! I love watching experts do things like that- you can almost always learn to do it better, even if you think you have it down...

Thank you Beezie for instruction. When I dismount I do keep my left leg and the stirrup and then release once my right leg is over.... don't think I was doing that right. lol. Thank you.

great vid! ty Beezie! only thing i wouldnt do, as a trainer teaching others, is swing ur reins up over the horses head. its fine for ur own, personal horse who's been desensitized but for teaching a student, not a good idea :) im sure u knew that. anyways, ty for being their for us riders during this stupid pandemic and for all the inspiration over the yrs.

How many horses does breeze own?
@graceyoung37605 жыл бұрын
I believe that Bz doesn’t technically own most of the horses, there is someone else that owns the horse she rides the horse for them. This is only what I think I could be wrong
@graceyoung37605 жыл бұрын
Because the horse she was using in this video is not owned by her it is own by Abigail Wexner

The majority of the horses here are owned by other people. We own a few young horses and retirees.

So much different than western. I could never ride english, that was just weird.....the leg up. I am short, so my tall horse is harder to mount, but I just get my foot in the stirrup, and hop. hahahaha. Easy!

I would not use a step ladder... horse hoof/leg could get caught Mounting block or straw bale

Mounting block? Less strain on the back! Both human assistant and equine. Enjoy.
