This series had a major presence on the channel a few years ago, but I didn't show it off in a "KZbin friendly" way. Hopefully this can rectify that somewhat and I can move forward.

That first thing reminds me of Akayashi horror stories where it had multiple stories and then turned into the show Mononoke which has absolutely zero self consciousness and seemed like the people who made had immense love for there work and didn’t care to make it marketable for the public which I love about it because it’s so unique and beautiful

Madhouse did a lot of great work no doubt, but i cant say they didnt fall into mass production 2008 releasing something like 18 productions. With 5 movies coming out the next year ontop of everything else

@@bobpaige4029 not quite common misconception redline was a cult hit and never was suppose to make it's money back at the cinema but in video sales, reports on its costs were also massively overstated that year we know yona Yona penguin was the most costly madhouse movie

Yet another anime from my childhood that was dubbed to Arabic. I really didn't know that all these names were attached to it, especially Dezaki and Hata. Well done video 👏

it's so surreal to simultaneously see something that's by all means beyond hidden gems yet have over a million views youtube uploads and tv reruns of it in another language.

Such passion put into a video, making the somberness at the end hits so much more harder. Thanks for the story.

That is some impressive levels of obscurity! I thought I was going really niche watching Starzinger that is finally getting an english fansub but this is just impossible! Great work pasting together the muddled past of forgotten anime!

Thanks! Just wanna keep focus on what I want to do, Algo can do whatever. Aspect ratio wise this next one will be a little funky bc it's two different sizes, but still presented in a fresher way than blurred side bars 🙄

Love finding these old gems. Great video; it makes me want to watch more old Madhouse stuff. @5:50 It's always crazy to me how some of this old media is (close to) lost when there's a record of everything anymore.

I like these kinds of documentary styles of listing certain facts and trends about old anime creation. I already have seen a good bit of manga Nihon, so might see the early episodes of sekai. for a bit of feedback, I feel like the theme of "dynamic creative expression vs content generation" isn't really meaningfully commented on, so the ending and into feels a bit disconnected to the main content for me. I view the video as more of a production analysis of some old anime.

Yeah it's pretty much that, honestly the intro was written before really understanding what DAX was trying to do. I think the contrast is meant to be demonstrated early on with Manga Furusato and Manga Sekai, but the outro was repeated bc I had a different conclusion in mind that was more personal but scrapped it

And Madhouse also do this as well. You can see that Madhouse still makes wonderful titles like "A Place Further than the Universe" while milking out "Overlord" series.

Great video! A handful of the Manga Sekai episodes are fansubbed and I watched them some years ago (the Beauty and the Beast episode in particular was incredible) but you've convinced me to watch more of the series unsubbed. The only other show I've seen unsubbed is around 20 or so episodes of the original Astro Boy - it should help me with learning Japanese, I'm sure!

What about Madhouse and Mappa war? They had so much good quality in anime back in the days. Like, I am still waiting for Hajime no Ippo and Kaiji sequel: there's literally no anime like these ones (and other amazing titles that they made then, of course).

It seems like part 2 of lupin where you get the Miyazaki episode and then a bunch of garbage or the last 5 episodes of Kaiba where it took a great show and became muddled with confusing lore! Great video I’m happy you are doing obscure content!

I first recorded it to as close to the original as possible, dubbing basically. But then for the original bits I used whatever lip flaps existed (so for a western animation like Simpsons had a LOT to choose from!) to sync it to my voice frame by frame :)
