Okay, I need to note this cause it's bugging me that people don't know it: The story of the magic flute was not written by Mozart. The Libretto was was written by Emanuel Schikaneder, a drunk actor who wrote what was basically a self insert porn for a vaudeville theatre and asked Mozart to write music for it, and Mozart, being at the verge of bankruptcy, accepted, but he and his wife both kinda disliked the story

@@andordimeny6130 I do know that, as I read the libretto about it years ago, and know that composers like Richard Wagner writing their own librettos are rare. The authorship of the libretto and circumstances of why Mozart wrote for it don't change the fact that the music is the only redeeming quality the opera has.

Fun Fact: The story of this opera was NOT written by Mozart. It was written by a drunkard vaudeville actor, Emanuel Schikaneder, and he basically wrote it as a self-insert. It is Mozart's last opera that he wrote after losing favour in the imperial court, and he was basically FORCED to write music for this dumbass story, since Emanuel got him the deal with the vaudeville.
