Excellent video thank you. I just finished Empsium and found this very enriching commentary. I only read about a third of Magic Mountain but plan to go back and read it all now.

A book definitely worth reading! Olga Tokarczuk hat succeeded in offering us a very original novel, dense and tense, and in creating an at first unsettling atmosphere. The novel is never fan fiction nor a by-product to The Magic Mountain, it definitely has a (powerful) life of its own. The structure and the language is brilliant, as are the many, many hints and nods to Thomas Mann, more particularly visible to connoisseurs, but always clever and subtle. The great way you presented this extraordinary novel, David, encouraged me to hold on in the first chapters and it was very rewarding!

Great review I just finished and loved the book it was so unsettling and kept me on the edge of my seat. I couldn’t figure out the title so thanks for explaining that. Couldn’t watch the whole video cause I just ordered the magic mountain and don’t want any spoiler
