My fave channel strip! Black is the go-to for kick and snare usually. I find the Orange circuit is wooly and large, less defined, but my fave on bass. It's the only time I use Orange. The gate is fantastic for kick and snare. Seriously can't go wrong with the 4KE. Nice video!

@@mixdownonline Awesome, let me know! Like I said, it's wooly lol It certainly works for bass, especially in the 78 to 110 hz range. I follow it up with an 1176.

Great in depth review of this plug-in. I have been using the plugin alliance/bx version which has been great, but just got this SSL version this week and have been loving it. Really good bit information to know that the output slider adds color. Thanks for what you do!

As far as I know, the orange circuit is a passive EQ - so basically similar to the classic Pultec Style EQs

I used the SSL Plugin version, which works well for the video, but I recently started to work with the Console 1 version, and it's great...mote flexible on some level, but I wish it had the Brown, and Orange EQ circuit, it only has the Black one.

Great review!!! Can you explain the Dbx 160 Compressor?
@TokyoSpeirs3 ай бұрын
the output stage (fader included) isn't actually static, it has the non-linearities of a real fader. Which is why pinning it at 12 db and trimming the output gets wildly different results :p
@mixdownonline3 ай бұрын
@@TokyoSpeirs Yes, that's what I mentioned as well in the video with the SSL plug-in 😎 The Brainworx version Output fader is a simple clean output level, according to the manual. Which one you like to work with?

Chris thanks for this other video. However, I would like to understand the issue of filter routing, what is the difference between pre eq and post eq? Except for the side chain you explained, I wonder in which cases it is better to put the filter post eq. I usually have in order the filter-Eq-Comp but I don't know why and when is useful have the filter post eq. Thank you if you can answer me ;)

My SSL channel strip is the CLA Mixhub. However it is too CPU hungry and I only use it on my mix bus or when self-mastering. I tend to use just EQ strips like Neve or API and standalone comps like 1176 and LA2A.

Have you tried controlling the SSL plugin with console1? Curious about mapping is you have.
@royalemuzikproductionz3 ай бұрын
Was hoping that was what the big surprise was 😂😂😂 sadly mistaken
@mixdownonline3 ай бұрын
No, you can't map plugins with the Console 1, you control the plugins available inside the main Console 1 plugin. Console 1 has it's version of the SSL 4000e, which I use on a regular basis
@alexandrecapelier3 ай бұрын
@@mixdownonlineit is possible, but only in Reaper using CSI (controller surface integrator). In this case you can't use anymore softube's console 1 plug-in,which is a big drawback... It's because the display one software (visual of the hardware on screen) takes the lead on any midi transmission from the controller, so you have to disable it. Thanks for the video, it's great!

Hi Chris. I currently have Rode NTH100M headphones that I use for PC and I use them with Soundblaster G3. I am also looking for a headphone for listening to music with my phone outside. If I consider the weather conditions, in-ears seem more suitable to me. It can also be over-ear, of course I would like to hear your suggestions. For in-ears, I have Truthear Zero Red and Nova in mind. For over-ears, I don't know whether to get wired or wireless. If I get wired, I like Verum1. I don't know what else! My maximum budget is 350 dollars and I can't go above that. Naturally, I need to get a DAC for such good headphones. Again, I have Questyle M12i, Fiio Ka5, Eversolo H2 in mind. Again, I am open to suggestions. I would be glad if you can help me choose.
