There are more magic in Vedic mathematics. Vedic fire ritual involves constructing a Bedi with 1087 (number of hymns in the Ric) tiles of similar shape and size that when put together forms a bird shaped bedi, or a square, or a circle etc., explained in a series of theorems in sulbosutra (1700 bc) many of the theorems were copied by Euclid when writing the 'Elements'.

Vedic Maths was developed in early 1900s by Swamiji Tirtha. There is ZERO evidence that it comes from Vedas, other than the author himself saying he found it from his interpretation of Atharva Veda. No doubt Vedic math helps solve certain problems easily, but that is nowhere close to how big mathematics is, and will not help you much in becoming a great mathematician. Instead of glorifying some false claims, we should be focussing on the real information that the Vedas possess. Like Sulba Shutra talks about the Pythagorean theorem. I dare the speaker to speak the truth and promote the real discoveries made by the early Vedas. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qIqtooeiq71mrrc

But Newton’s Magnum Opus, the Principia Mathematica, in which he discusses the Calculus essential for his Laws of Motion, was written around ~1700 CE. Thus, even orthodox historians and scientists now agree that the Kerala Calculus pre-dates that of Newton by at least a clear 200 years.* bharathgyanblog.wordpress.com/2013/09/21/calculus-was-discovered-in-india/ Well, calculus as a whole wasn't discovered in India, some basic ideas of it. But, did the Europeans know of the Kerala Calculus? Circumstantial evidence indicates that *they did,* as many texts from Kerala were translated and transmitted to Europe during this period by the Jesuit priests who had learnt the local languages. Further, it is well known that there have been strong links through trade from times immemorial between Kerala and the West. I copied and pasted all of that, you can read from the given sites.

@neosutub5 жыл бұрын
Well I believe the earlier generation in power (education designers) may see it as a necessity to keep everyone at an awareness level where one can dig further if need be - without needing to trouble people where to start. Saves a lot of time of lot of people. Combined time saving definitely matters. But I do not know for sure if they had no absolute chance to make it simpler enough worldwide already - specially given the availability of milli second if not sub-milli second Internet knowledge base at their disposal. Of course I'm saying this aside from the usual invasion history, politics, corruption and other adverse influencing factors on education systems.

+Avishek Mazumdar, these techniques are great, but there is little evidence of your statement (or, please provide this). Most archaeological evidence (i.e., surviving texts) show Egypt as being the first origins of advanced math, 2,200-1,800 BC; India appears to be next with surviving texts, at about a 1,000 later - still a very significant achievement (About 500 years before major Greek advancements). Here is a simple criticism of the origins (not the efficacy) of these 'Vedic math' techniques (yes, it is from Wikipedia, but this is the most easily-accessible common resource) Criticism Tirthaji claimed that he found the sutras after years of studying the vedas, a set of sacred ancient Hindu texts. However, the vedas do not contain any of the "Vedic mathematics" sutras.[1][5] First, Tirthaji’s description of the mathematics as Vedic is most commonly criticised on the basis that, thus far, none of the sūtras can be found in any extant Vedic literature (Williams, 2000). When challenged by Professor K.S. Shukla to point out the sutras in question in the Parishishta of the Atharvaveda, Shukla reported that the Tirthaji said that the sixteen sutras were not in the standard editions of the Parishishta, and that they occurred in his own Parishishta and not any other.[6][7] Professor Vasudeva Saran Agrawala, the editor of the first edition of Tirthaji's book, notes that there is no evidence that the sutras are "Vedic" in their origin.[2]:6 Similarly, S. G. Dani of IIT Bombay points out that the contents of the book have "practically nothing in common" with the mathematics of the Vedic period or even subsequent Indian mathematics. For example, multiple techniques in the book involve the use of decimal fractions, which were not known during the Vedic times: even the works of later mathematicians such as Aryabhata, Brahmagupta and Bhaskara do not contain any decimal fractions. He contends that Tirthaji has liberally interpreted three-word Sanskrit phrases to associate them with arithmetic.[1] Tirthaji's claim that the sutras are relevant to advanced mathematical techniques such as successive differentiation or analytical conics have also been dismissed by Dani. He terms "ludicrous" Tirthaji's claim that "there is no part of mathematics, pure or applied, which is beyond their jurisdiction". He also points out that while Tirthaji's methods were not unique, they may have been invented by him-he held an MA in mathematics-independently. Similar systems include the Trachtenberg system or the techniques mentioned in Lester Meyers's 1947 book High-speed Mathematics.[1] Alex Bellos points out that several of the calculation tricks can also be found in early Modern European treatises on calculation.[8] Use in schools[edit] The book was previously included in the school syllabus of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.[2]:6 Some schools and organizations run by Hindu nationalist groups, including those outside India, have also included Tirthaji's techniques in their curriculum. The Hindu nationalists have also made several attempts to have Tirthaji's "Vedic mathematics" system included in the Indian school curriculum via the NCERT books. A number of academics and mathematicians have opposed these attempts on the basis that the techniques mentioned in the book are simply arithmetic tricks, and not mathematics. They also pointed out that the term "Vedic" mathematics is incorrect, and there are other texts that can be used to teach a correct account of the Indian mathematics during the Vedic period. They also criticized the move as a saffronization attempt to promote religious majoritarianism.[9][10] Dani points out that while Tirthaji's system could be used as a teaching aid, there was a need to prevent the use of "public money and energy on its propagation, beyond the limited extent". He pointed out that the authentic Vedic studies had been neglected in India even as Tirthaji's system received support from several Government and private agencies.[1] Proponents of Vedic Mathematics however argue that the methods are not merely mathematical tricks and that there is an underlying psychology because the aphorisms describe personal approaches to problem-solving. As pedagogic tools, the methods are useful because they invite students to deal with strategies.[11]

@@LKINTELLIGENCE .... No matter a person is Hindu, Muslim, Sikh or Christian, we all are humans.. We have our individuality, our own beliefs and our own mindsets... You can't change people neither their thinking... Better to live in our own secular way... I'm proud to be Hindu but not too haughty as to make statements that point in a negative way towards a different religion... When someone says anything against Hinduism we revolt against that and try to defend our own religion, but when we say something about different religions? Try to put yourself in the situation others are, you'll find what it feels... And yeah there's no politics going on over here of religions... That to save this religion we need make full amends of insuring it's safety... That's what's troubling me.. You people fail to understand this... 😥

@superawesomecaptainmcfluff95068 жыл бұрын
+Deanland Audio LLC +Deanland Audio LLC First of all, Tamil Nadu isn't in Sri Lanka or "Cylon". It's a state in the south eastern part of India, with its capital being Thiruvanathapuram (I think), anyway, back then, when the Vedic people "invented" their own Math, (Hence Vedic Math), that was pre British Rule in India, I.e. no states or anything were present then. The "country", then extending to modern day Pakistan and Bangladesh and parts of Nepal was for the most parts ruled by Mughals, pre Mughal period, during the Vedic Age, then, this type of Math was invented, saying, "Tamil people invented Vedic Math" is wrong, since when they did it, there was no Tamil though most Tamils now are descendents of those Vedic people, they're extremely intelligent, like Ramanujan.

They don't teach this to us in school..The reason is because; 1)Vedic math system is harder to learn by a child as it requires too much mental calculation. 2)A child cannot understand why the numbers behave like that as it requires algebraic identities to understand. 3)And most of what he said were tricks and special cases...They were not actually a Mathematical System to do computation. Not all Indians are smart. And not all Indians are good at math. The reason why we are better at arithmetic is because we never used calculators in high school. The closest thing we got was logarithm table for 12th class physics. Vedic maths may no be good to learn as a child and it is not good without practice, but once you get to highschool its great, but only those who are interested learn it.
