As the Pixies prepare to embark on the North American leg of their 2022-2023 World Tour, we had the chance to sit down with drummer David Lovering and delve into the journey of the legendary band, their iconic album "Surfer Rosa," and his passion for magic.
Kicking off on May 4th, the Pixies will be hitting the road again, with an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and over 40 dates spread across North America until mid-September. Fans have eagerly anticipated the tour, with about half of the shows already sold out.
In our conversation, Lovering reflected on the band's recent 35th anniversary of "Surfer Rosa," an album he holds dear to his heart. As the band's first full-length offering, "Surfer Rosa" helped to define the Pixies' sound and solidify their place in alternative rock history. Produced by the renowned Steve Albini, the recording process showcased Albini's raw, unfiltered approach, which beautifully captured the essence of the Pixies. David fondly reminisced about the experience of working with Albini and how the album has stood the test of time.
