If you have ever wondered how to begin your thread without a knot this tutorial is for you.
The loop start truly does feel like magic in its simplicity, but it is so useful.
So here we go! How do you do a loop start?
You separate your floss so you have one long strand. You bring the two ends of the thread together so you have a loop on one side. Thread the two ends into your needle. Insert needle from the bottom making sure to keep the loop on the backside. Make your stitch. Finally insert your needle through the loop on the back to secure!

The tip at the end for breaking this down for a single thread (or any odd number) is PURE GOLD. Thank you!!!!

Thank you for sharing!!! If only there was a way just as magical to end a cross stitch other than random burying.

I was long suffering by doing lil' knots on the end of the line so it would stick in the back. This seems much *much* easier.

I do it from the front since i work on big pieces on a stand and almost never need to turn it over. Also use waste knots and pin stitches to start and stop threads.

I recently saw a video of using a Munter hitch to do a 1 stranded loop start. The starting stitch will have 2 threads, but everything else will just be 1.

This makes no sense?? The thread is not secured to the needle???
@zecuse
@zecuse Жыл бұрын
It doesn't need to be. As long as enough of it is pushed through the eye, it can't slip out when both sides of the eye go through. Just don't pull and arms length away after you pass the needle though before grabbing it by its eye.
