Worked with Flubby, AKA Sean Kelly, AKA Joe Walsh at Laura's fudge in Wildwood 1956-57. We would beat fudge and sing all the time. Flubby used to say someday you will pay to hear me sing. We laughed. We were wrong. High Hopes and the Magnatones at the Emerald all summer. great times.

Zilla likes "White Doo Wop" and the Magnatones are a classic group in that vein. Great Doo Wop.

Saw their picture in The Five Mile Beach paper (March/April) . Great to see them on KZbin singing Doo-Wop, the greatest sounding music to one's ear.

Sean Kelly whose correct name was Joseph A. Walsh was born and raised in National Park, NJ. He spent part of his childhood in Wildwood. Sean never played any instrument but he was great front man that worked well with the style of “white soul” the Magnatones. Sean was an accomplished welder and a guy who could and would fight if provoked. I worked with the Magnatones for many years as base player Eddie Grey.

Hey Ed, I was wondering if anybody was going rectify that keyboard statement :) I worked with Joey on stage and in the field as a boilermaker. He was still using Shawn Kelly but this was after the Magnatones & Vegas etc. The only one of that band I ever met (very briefly at a record session) was Joey Spiteck (sp) who was also from the Park.. He talked about the other guys but I don't remember any names. After he left the Navy Yard he came to work with us building tanks. I was sorry to hear of his passing. Is Margie still in the Park? I haven't been back in almost 20 years. I don't recall ever meeting you, if I did I'm sorry I don't recall it.

I’m not sure what needs to be corrected. My statement clarified that he wasn’t a musician. What specifically do you think needs to changed. Where did you work with him on stage what group?

In this picture are lower left Ed Hickman, sax, Joe Spytek, guitar, center Sean Kelly aka Joe Walsh, drummer Billy Zane and myself Ed Gibson. Walsh Spytek and Gibson were all from National Park. Hickman and Zane were from Gloucester

I was referring to the post by John Skipper and Joey being a keyboard player, nothing you said. I worked with Ray Coleman for years as a drummer, I remember Billy Zane's name now that you mention it. Joey fronted the group for a little while. We played local around the Park (White Bridge, Nicky Ducca's,) Paulsboro and a few other joints. As far as the name, lol it changed often and not sure what it was at the time, could have been the Mint's. Although I think that was the name when Wayne (Semour) Duncan worked with us. We never went beyond local clubs because we traveled for work and only did weekend gigs.

song is nice but the harsh falsetto takes a lot away from the song.
