Good to see so many bass around. I would like to think that the efforts anglers have made over the past 4o odd years have gone a great way to conserve the species. I haven't kept one for over 10 years now. The bigger ones especially - They are the breeding stock and should all be returned. Great video. Well done you guys.

Hi Kerry lovely to hear from you! Yes we have noticed a vast improvement in the bass fishing in recent years! Like you we very rarely keep any…. As we get older virtually all our fish go back these days ! I didn’t always do that but I love seeing them swim off now! Thanks for watching glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for taking the time to comment! Cheers Ian

Hi Ian. Yet again another great video. Nice to see Chris getting some nice fish. Hoping to get over to Chesil myself next week. A few mackerel down here in Cornwall at the minute and still getting some nice pollock. The north coast is fishing really well at the minute compared to the south coast where I am. Take care mate and keep the videos coming.

Hi Ian, I have always enjoying watching your videos, I could tell you are very experienced and I love the friendship between you two, the most beauty is I see many times you guys returned the fish to the ocean, a great example for all anglers. I live in London and I would love to visit Bristol channel for some codling experience, I did visit once last year in December at Seven bridge but got nothing. It will be a long drive and maybe this time I give Brean a visit, if you have any advice which month to visit and what kind of conditions I need to look out for then it would be greatly helpful, also which part of Brean beach would be best to target, obviously there is no guarantee the codling would be around. Take care and keep the videos coming.
@ianclarkfishing3 жыл бұрын
Hi Thi so nice to hear from you and thanks for your lovely words! Chris and I have been fishing together for nearly 35 years now!! With regards to coming down to fish Brean for cod I must say it’s a long way for 3 hours fishing!!! The last couple of years have been very poor for cod but every year is different so you hope this year will be amazing! When it’s good you can catch a lot in the 3 hours…..if the fishing for cod kicks off I will send you a message here. The best weather is a steady 10mph SW or W wind after a storm with a mid range tide….if you look at tide times for Weston super Mare you want one between 10m and 11.5M ideally. November and December are the best months. Lugworm the only bait. Fish last 3 hours before high tide! Let’s hope for a lot of cod and I will let you know cheers ian
@mvatoiband3 жыл бұрын
@@ianclarkfishing Thanks Ian, I live in West London and the nearest sea would take me at least 1.5 hour from my house, and not even a good location for fishing. My average fishing trip is between 2-4 hours drive, so 3 hours would not be a problem. I have been to Chesil, Poole, Dungeness...Please let me know when you think it is good to have a try. I have caught most regular fish from shore apart from cod. Take care.

Hi Bart lovely to hear from you! Yes there are plenty of bass on Brean this year! Hi paul nice to hear from you. Yes nice tide Saturday evening 9.45 high start fishing about 6.45. It’s a big tide 12.7 m but forecast is for light wind. Unfortunately I’m currently isolating having caught covid19 so haven’t been out for a week. Chris fished it recently and had a thornback and I know there are plenty of bass still about. Fresh lug best bait…. A big bait needed I think. The tide will race in for a couple of hours so plenty of line on your reel an advantage…your bait can be left out 45 minutes at least if it’s big enough. No crabs on the beach. Good luck cheers Ian

Generally use a small pulley pennel with size 2 or 4 Aberdeen’s…always a chance of a sole so until the cod are in we keep on the small side. Hooks the bass well enough!!
