if any of you guys are listening for the first time, YES this has an overarching story with reoccurring characters. it doesn't initially seem like it, but it very much does. and jon isn't narrating the whole time either, you will hear other voices eventually. this podcast is a great slowburn with a carefully plotted story, it's really astounding how well they planned it out. its a big investment to get into but very worth it!

I actually had the hardest time getting into The Magnus Archives. I kept starting, then starting over. But once I started noticing the reoccurring characters/ very creepy tbh background activity, I got hooked. I even started keeping my own notes, with names and details whenever I noticed something “off.” I have a hard time listening to podcasts, could never focus/pay attention to audio so I gave up for the first season and instead read the transcripts. I loved it, the entire first season was GOOD. I’m starting to see the bigger picture and how all these stories connect. Now I’m going back to actually listen to the podcasts. Promise not to spoil anything for new listeners, other than that the entire journey is worth it.

oh ho ho! coming back to take proper notes, oh man is this is amazing. I'm normally pretty squicked out by most horror but TMA is just pulling me in. Just finished season one, coming back to take notes so I can go into season 2 armed with pages of bullet pointed events, lists of names, timelines, family trees ect. I knew a bit about the characters going in but nothing about the lore and there's really no feeling quite as satasfying and addictive as going back and finding where I know the name Sarah Baldwin from.

And then there's those of us who are coming back to take proper notes after listening to the season 5 finale. I won't spoil anything but like, prepare for much feels, this is a damn good podcast which has broken my heart many many times and completely changed my life despite just being a horror podcast or whatever, and I don't even /like/ horror lmao Edit: And you should probably avoid the comment section, there's a lot of spoilers lol

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep edit: I'm literally attempting a way too in-depth analysis of the whole podcast, seriously I have multiple documents absolutely covered in rainbow text because color coding is rly flippin difficult and I can't even read half of this XD

Totally hooked me in right away. you wont regret listening to this whole thing, it's a game changer

80% of the people I follow on tumblr won't stop posting about the show. Finally giving it a go, never listened actively to a podcast before for anything other than white noise, not a horror fan. Love it. The overly happy Animal Crossing music in the background from my abandoned game offsets the fear quite strangely.

Back again where it all started, huh. I'm not one to normally comment on videos, but I can't help but pour my heart out after the tragedy that befell our beloved Archivist yesterday. What a trip it has been since March of last year, when I first picked up on this podcast and quickly found myself in love with just about everything it's had to offer. Hats off to the Rusty Quill staff for 5 years of crafting this masterpiece. I'll be doing my best now to fall in love all over again, connecting the dots I didn't notice before, maybe even try to see if there was ever a way this all could have been different. Either way, I hope both newcomers and veterans of the series a warm welcome to the Magnus Archives, which was a podcast.

Definitely not been spending the past few days attempting a way too in-depth analysis of the series (So much color coding, I've literally used every single text color in google docs and have resorted to combinations of different text color + colored highlighting just so that I can differentiate various themes and such)

@@everythingcoffee8901 man, I wish I had the attention span to do that. I tried making a spreadsheet a little while back, but my ADHD jumped out at me as soon as I opened the wiki so I ended up doing a ridiculous deep-dive into the Dark and the Montauks
