As a member of the sanctuary choir of South Shores Church in Dana Point,CA., this is the most moving song I have ever sung. It was many years before I could get through it without crying. I feelGod's presence every time I hear it May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight oh Lord my God .

I had the privilege of singing this with our church in Texas over 30 years ago. It has carried me so many times over the years. The last night before we moved to California to folliw the Lord's leading I stood oitside the choir room listening in tears as they practiced this oiece for yet another performance. We had no idea what was facing us in California but we knew with absolute assurance Who was calling us t9 serve Him here. It has been a journey but one with tremendous blessings and continual peace knowing He is always with us. God's love and faithfulness to His children is truly amazing. We are blessed beyond measure.

This was the first hymn I fell in love with when I just became a believer in 1986. A gentleman at my job handed me a little casette tape with music from his chuch's choir and I must have worn it out listening to it over and over again. The way I began to think about whether there was a God or not was as follows: on a night when my parents came to visit from out of town, my mom and I slept in my bed under a window. Right before I fell asleep, my mother (who was a beliver and had been praying for me ) began to talk about the stars we could see and how it must have been marvelous the way God made all that is in the skies. I began to almost see with my mind's eye what seemed to be the formation of planets and constellations as I fell asleep. From that night I began my search and found Jesus!! Or, shoudl I say, He found me. Praise the Lord I found this song performed so beautifully by this choir, it sounds exactly like the one I heard so many times so many years ago. I believe it was a baptist church in San Antonio TX that was on that long-lost cassette tape. I played it for my husband last night, as I heard it for the first time now, and it brought us both to tears. Thank you Jesus for giving this talent to people, to write such a song and for these beautiful voices to perform it so magnificentrly. God bless you, the director, the pastor of that church, all that attend there. Our God reigns!!!!

I used this anthem with my choir at Bay Leaf Baptist in Raleigh to begin our Christmas program in the 1990s. The choir entered the sanctuary silently and surrounded the people , with candles in the windows at night and the overhead lights dimmed. I almost could not get thru it conducting this fantastic setting of Psalm 8.

I truly believe I was blessed to hear the angels sing when I was flying back from Guatemala from a mission trip in 2002. It was an answer to a prayer to hear the angels sing due to many professions of faith on our trip. It was a medical mission trip that brought many to Christ with a a simple graphic depiction of the wall of sin separating God and man. Many, often including multi-generations from the same family, prayed to receive Christ. I truly believe I heard amazing, angelic😂 voices singing like no voices I had ever heard before. This song is closest to those voices, even more beautiful and amazing because I can sing this song, also.

As a member of the Saint Andrew United Methodist Church of Panama City, FL, we performed this arrangement for the first time under the direction of Norman Hair. It was our favorite song to perform. It fills my spirit each time I hear it. We were able to perform it as a mass choir - ecumenical with all denominations who wanted to hear it. It was magnificent! Probably one of the most beautiful arrangements ever composed by Tom Fetke, in my most humble opinion of course. Listen to it and see if you do not agree.

When I gaze into the night skies and see the work of your fingers The moon and stars suspended in space O what is man (O what is man?) That you are mindful of him? You have given him a crown of glory and honor And have made him a little lower than the angels. You have put him in charge of all creation The beasts of the field The birds of the air The fish of the sea But what is man (O what is man?) O what is man that you are mindful of him? O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens. 2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger. 3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; 4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? 5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. 6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet: 7 All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field; 8 The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas. (PSALM 8)

There is one thing about this anthem that is unique. Even if this is performed by a small choir of about 20 - 25 singers, the anthem's impact is in no way diminished. It still sounds "large" - and this is how a successfully composed anthem should look like.
