The Making of a Wedding Cake | Start to Finish in Under 10 Minutes!

There are a few tips I'd like to give you. Just some things I noticed that can be done easier/more efficiently. 1. Getting your buttercream smoother and with sharper edges would help immensely. A bench scraper for the sides instead of your offset spatula is totally a "can't live without" kinda tool. And when smoothing square cakes, PULL it inward from each corner. Build up the corners a lot and take the excess off. Having smooth buttercream helps avoid fondant air bubbles too, which can really mess up the look of a cake fast. Short: So build up top edge and corners more, get smooth and crisp before proceeding with fondant. 2. Try not to pick up and pull/stretch your fondant once you've laid it on the cake. It tears/thins out parts too much. When covering squares, it's better to smooth down the corners first, then the middle of each side. There is more room for error on the side than the corner. 3. Your piping isn't bad at all, but could be so much better with a proper piping tip and taking your time a bit more. With royal icing, you can always take a damp artists paint brush and tap down the little dots that stick up from where you stopped piping each time you end a line. It makes it a million times neater looking. It's all in the details! 4. Last...the supports and leveling. It's best to use a level when frosting the cakes and again after covering in fondant, to check for level. Them when cutting supports, measure and cut 1 of them first, then use that cut one as a guide for the remainder of your tier. Instead of sticking Them in and using the cake level as your guide. Because Just a slight amount off level can ve disastrous for the look and support. Again...not meaning or wanting to offend you. I Just have tons of experience and these are things I noticed watching your video that I learned at one point myself.

If you use two fondant smoothers together it will give you a crisper sharp edge on your square cakes...

Made girls 1st birthday pink and white cake had top tier had edible beads and pink, second white with flower bow, bottom tier was fondant ruffles and ruffle flowers I was ruffled out... Plus teal mash cake with pipped rosettes. Love your flowers.
