Michael O'Keefe told the story on TV one night that he still loved to play golf. Whenever he called famous private courses to see if he could play, he was refused. He told them he was a famous actor and that still didn't allow him access. Finally he gave up and said, "Okay I was Danny Noonan." They all said, "What time do you want to play?"

What's really scary is how this documentary was made 19 years after the movie and now, here in 2022, it's been 23 years since the documentary was made. Time keeps on slipping into the future! Seriously, this is my all time favorite film. It came out when I was in high school and I've seen it over 100 times. I'll probably still be watching it when they throw me in the old folks home.

Yeah, I think about that w/respect to Back to the Future. That movie came out in 85 and Marty McFly went back 30 years to 1955. But 1985 is almost 40 years ago, so we're further into the future from 1985 than Marty went backwards... Also, IMHO, Caddy Shack is the second greatest comedy of all time, after The Big Lebowski.

It's weird seeing people get old and dying, and then realizing you're on the back 9 riding their coat tails. It's also weird reading other people's comments, relating, feeling like a kid and realizing that these comments aren't being written by someone in their 20s, but buy someone in their 50s and 60s.

Caddyshack is one of those movies that flows so well and is so funny that by the time it gets to the country club dinner scene, you suddenly realize it’s been about half an hour since it started. It’s that quick and that entertaining. Yes, it’s a bit of a shame that the main story of the caddies got sidelined, but it’s so entertaining and funny enough that you can forgive the filmmakers for going that route. Finally, a shout-out to Rodney Dangerfield, Ted Knight, Douglas Kenney and Harold Ramis. You are missed to this day.

1980... so I was 18 when I saw 'Caddyshack' for the 1st time, and very stoned of course.! I laughed so hard my face hurt, I cried from laughter and my stomach was sore..!! That simply doesn't happen anymore and younger generations will NEVER know the PURE JOY of a perfect 'Stoner Movie' and I'm happy that "we" got to experience that. Similar to the shear fear of watching 'Jaws' in 1975 and still being afraid of sharks to this day... It was a mechanical fish..!! I recently watched Jaws an Laughed Out Loud..!! But at 13, I was terrified.

One of my favorite all-time films. Everyone did an amazing job. This was a great insight on how it came together. I think the key to its success was having brilliant talent and letting them run wild. It's what gave each character, character, instead of a script write forcing it upon them and everyone being created from that one mind.

This is and has been one of my favorite all-time movies (comedy). The actors were awesome, but my favorite part of this movie was actually quite philosophical. When Chevy Chase is talking to the caddie, Billy, and he says something like: "Billy, see your future. Be your future. Go get your future." Those words from all those years ago have always been my motivation in life, business and more. It works. For me, this is more than a cult movie, or "just" a comedy. There are many scenes that were so relatable from that era starting in 1980 (I was 24 yrs. old) when the movie came out. Many thanks to ALL the actors, directors/producers/staff for putting that movie on the screen. And last, the music by Kenny Loggins was perfect. I was already a big Loggins and Messina fan before that.

And speaking of rocking, Kenny Logins,"I'm Alright", tops it off nicely,it had classic written all over it ,when it came out.😀😂😅😄😃😁

It's heartbreaking to see Harold Ramis mentioning how Bill Murray and Chevy Chase had had fights with each other during their SNL days. At the time this interview was recorded, Ramis was still experiencing his own bitter falling-out with Murray... they hadn't been on speaking terms since Groundhog Day, and I don't think they ever really reconciled until shortly before Ramis' death. The guy left us far too soon. He seems so eternally happy and proud of his achievements in this interview. RIP

I love Bill Murray so damn much and Ramis is a mind beyond us. Still is. Chevy Chase....he cannot be the asshole they say he is. Hes awesome. A huge turnout to watch Rodney film Caddyshack from fellow comedians, and Rodney, filming his first movie thought he was bombing terribly because none of the Comics there were laughing during his scene. He told the director I reall suck. Then it was explained to Rodney that if someone laughs or talks during filming the take can't be used. Its amazing to me how insecure comics are & people in all walks of life.

I heard some facts about the origin of CaddyShack. it was based on a golf course in Hawthorn woods Illinois. I think Doug Kenney worked there. It was called Indian Creek. I worked in that area in 2000 and played that course many times. (Ironically the caddies did get replaced with golf carts.) I was playing jagermeister golf one day and my buddy was driving the cart. On the 18th hole, there was a bridge that went over Indian Creek. He passed out, missed the bridge, and drove us right into Indian Creek. Good times.... What's really ironic is that a developer bought it and built condo's.

Speaking of destroying golf course: I went to high school in a rural area known as Cowboy Capital and nearby we have a large river with an 18 hole golf course country club (very exclusive) next to it. One day a group of approx. 8 of us rode our horses down to the park by the river and of course met a bunch of girls because horses are girl magnets. We drank beer all afternoon and got way too drunk to be outside alone much less on horseback. Later in the day it was getting hot so we rode and swam our poor horses in the river to cool off when all of a sudden my buddy's horse was having a hard time staying a float. As he was hanging onto the horn I grabbed his reins and pulled them to the very steep river bank where we all had a hard time climbing the steep embankment. Upon reaching the top we let our horses rest for a bit, had a few more beers then realized we were on the far back end of the country clubs golf course. Like a bunch of idiots we took off, hooping and hollering as we galloped across the fairways. We started getting noticed by groups of old golfers yelling at us. As we rode thru sand traps the hoofs were able to throw trails of sand up in the air. Then we came upon the greens. Now, if you know how much they spend in time and money perfectly grooming the greens then you'd understand that as we rode across them, our horses throwing clunks of sod everywhere leaving creators in the ground, that the old golfers were pissed, mad as Hell. They were waiving their clubs up in the air while screaming who knows what at us to the point I was (later) concerned they were going to have heart attacks. We finished our joy rides like a bunch of dumbasses and left. Approx. 4 miles away we were caught up by one of the clubs managers who chased us down in his truck. He too yelled and screamed for about ten minutes telling us we caused a minimal $20,000 in damages (80's dollar). We apologized repeatedly, kept saying, "yes sir", "no sir" to everything he was yelling about until he calmed down a little. Then he wanted our names & ph. #'s to contact our parents to pay (probably be sued) for the damages us idiots caused. I made sure to go first, as I was the one talking the most for us idiots in apologizing, etc., but also to be sure to provide a false name and number and and thst my equally idiot friends follow suit. Fortunately the Sheriff's Dept. was never called nor did we hear from the country club again. I was especially glad the Sheriff's Dept. was never called because I became a deputy sheriff for that department approx. 5 years later and recently retired after 31 quick years. Yes it was dumb as Hell and not only do I regret the damage we caused but I treated someone very poorly who not only didn't deserve it but gave me years of everything he had and trusted me to protect him, my horse, Pierce.

Before he was putting Thanagarian Snare Beasts in Superman Lives and Wild Wild West, producer Jon Peters was putting gophers in golf movies. Only in that case, it worked.

I'm from Australia and we have a similar chocolate bar called the Chokito. Everyone in Aus calls that scene the "Chokito bar scene". People still say "don't leave any Chokito bars behind in the pool!" HILARIOUS...
