Ethan, Thank you for sharing with us, your own wonderful film making abilities. Your filming of Mr. Kennedy in the ER is but one example of the toughness and "True Grit" that was shown by many in the movie business.

Privileged to meet Mr. Kennedy at the Memphis Film Festival in the 90's. He was a treasure trove of knowledge and experience. Especially appreciated the knowledge related to his work with John Wayne. After meeting Patrick and Ethan Wayne several times, it's very evident their father instilled the same values in them that my father instilled in me and my siblings. An increasingly rare thing these days. Keep up the good work Ethan!

Thank you for sharing. A little side note. The calvary had a height standard for remounts. Commanche was too short so they would not buy him. Keogh liked him so much he paid for him out of pocket. The first few hours of the Gettysburg battle were crucial for the Union troops to hold the high ground until reinforcements arrived. If they had not succeeded the outcome would have been different. One of the officers that made that happen was Miles Keogh.

FYI....there were a lot of white and 7th Cavalry survivors at the Little Big Horn. 2/3 of Custer's command (7th Cav) was deployed to the south of the encampment and survived. Comanche was the only 7th Cavalry survivor from the companies that Custer kept with him, those that went to the east and north of the encampment. 268 were killed under Custer's 7th. But there were 647 troopers total under Custer at the time. Custer dispatched companies A, G and M under Reno; companies H, D and C under Benteen; and Custer kept companies C, E, F, I and L. There are officers, enlisted and scouts included in those totals.

Thanks for the video. I am a history nut, so I will watch the movie. So much to tell in such a short time. Just the story of Miles Keogh would be a mini-series. Custer was riding a big sorrel remount horse with stocking white legs. The native american descriptions of the battle say that the man on the horse with white feet fought a good fight. There was one soldier that survived, he and his horse were wounded and his horse saved him by outrunning his attackers.

"The only survivor of the 7th at Little Bighorn" is misleading and not accurate. Comanche was the only survivor of Custer's contingent; the whole column was divided 3 times and there were 3 separate, distinct fights. Fighting continued the day after Custer was killed. Reno and Benteen fought for 2 days during the battle. Custer for only one.

@@michaelpower4372 oh, and by the way, cruelty wasn't and isn't proprietary to whites. I know you're angling at that. Why do you think the Sioux tribes were so dominant? Or the Comanche (after the Sioux and others drove them out of the northern plains and the Rockies). It's not because those dominant tribes were great negotiators.
