It's the purity of the moment, isn't it? The purity of a child of Palestinian descent singing about hope in these troubled times, mixed with the complete honesty of a Palestinian man speaking pure and unadulterated truth, showing gratitude for something we're not really used to - a successful, white, Western artist making a song (and risking his career) to highlight the severe injustice being perpetrated against the Palestinian people. This all makes me think how much of a failure it is by DJ Khaled that he doesn't say anything even while he doesn't need more money anymore. He could make himself a hero but instead, it comes down to people like Ben, Immortal Technique, Lowkey, Napoleon da Legend (who has talked about Palestine on several occasions), Styles P who did a song with Lowkey and a few others. Not to mention all the amazing Palestinian artists like the ones on this track across reppin their people. Last night I spent hours listening to Hind's Hall 1&2, and just sobbing. It's one of those night where you just overwhelmed with emotions and need to remind yourself that there's still goodness and hope. So ofc I came back to this video again. again when you are telling macklamore about him using his voice like he is I feel that so hard. Ages ago I transitioned my taste in hip-hop to predominantly be activist focused. I never cared about macklamore, I knew who he was, had heard a few songs, but it was all the same no substance music I avoided so I didn't give him much of a chance. Now I think he is one of the most important artist of this decade. The only thing I disagree with you that you said there was that speaking out nowadays is a risk, Its so much more than that, its a death sentence in all buy physical death, and even still that's possible, even more so no with the rate of assassinations Israel is carrying out, could be a literal death sentence. And for that my respect went from 1 to 100 for macklamore to a million even. Peace and love to all involved in this beautiful song.
