Seieng what had to be cut from Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy kinda made me a little sad. A whole hub with Yellow Sage's hut and 3 levels got cut, and another level got cut from Volcanic Crater. The first game in the series is probably my most favourite game ever, and to think about what could've been if it wasn't for deadlines and the fact the game needed to be published.

@Mr. Anonymous Man, I typed up this comment a whole other lifetime ago. lol There are tons of innovative, colorful and fun platforming titles now. The indie scene has a ton of this. And even outside of that, 2020 had some great stuff. Sackboy A Big Adventure, Crash Bandicoot 4, Astro’s Playroom. Those are 3 big ones already. We’re in a good era right now.

6:50 wow the way Jason Rubin looks at Jak and Daxter 1, powerful stuff. Would love a super in depth look at the making of Jak 1, to me its the best outta the series. its stands at a special place, a swan song of the collectathon and platformer era. Helluva way to show the genre couldnt die, it continues to be a timeless masterpiece.

Kind of a funny detail at the beginning. Andy (the programmer) says "It looks the same" Jason (the artist) says "No, it looks much better" I just thought that was a neat observation. Props to Jason and Andy for founding one of the best game development studios of all time!

Jak and Daxter was the first ever game I remember playing when I was a child. I got the first one for Christmas along with a ps2 and will always consider it to be the best game ever. It also made me become the games programmer I am today :)

They've basically always BEEN Sony's Rare, since they were with them from the get-go with Crash. Turns out that Sucker Punch and Insomniac doubled and tripled down on that title combined with ND, essentially creating a trilogy of trilogies on the PS2.

The lost frontier wasnt great but it wasn't complete garbage either. Jak X was a different game but it was still very good as it still had the core cast. The lost frontier's mistake was leaving everything behind that was familiar to the player. Jak 2 and 3 expanded on what was already in Jak. In fact playing through the games again there's a lot of references to stuff, places and people that are in future games which I think is really cool. For example the Oracle statues from the first game always reference Jak becoming Mar and how he will eventually be tainted by Dark Eco. You can continue to make sequels to a game, but it needs to make sense in the context of the universe. I really hope we get a sequel/reboot of this wonderful series.

On my sixth birthday I got Jak 3 and it was AMAZING so I went back and played the rest of the Jak and Daxter games and it was so much fun and now want Jak and Daxter 4 so badly. with the PS4 Naughty Dog can make Jak and Daxter 4 amazingly awesome.

Crazy thing is, if things get really well recorded and really big fanbases, fans will finish the things devs wish they could have or add their own vision into games with mods. Hasn't happened with the PS2 era much yet. But some of N64 stuff out there is wild. Hope to see fans fix Kor's face in the PS3 HD Collection someday.

i actually had a similar idea a while back, but eventually dropped it when i realized it was kinda similar to the new sly. but basically, its current day in the jak universe, only things start changing. people forget important things, say stuff that never happened. jak has to find out why, and he discovers that gol and maya had changed the past, undoing everything he did. so you'd basically have to travel back in time, get to see young jak, and stop gol and maya. :) the perfect revisit.

I think they should make a new one where Gol and Maia come and attack spargus at the beginning of the new game, then they escape to haven city where it's been abandoned, and you escape to samos's hut (seen in jak 2) where they find some way to go back in time to to sandover village where young jak from jak 2 is already the same as from jak 1 and they go back to spargus to defeat them together, That sounds freaking amazing to me.

High Impact Games is made up of former employees of Insomniac and Naughty Dog and when they made a Jak and Daxter game they took away most of the characters, the morph gun, Jak's eco powers, every other setting from the previous games and it went against in game lore in terms of the dark makers being precursors that have been touched by dark eco meaning that "Dark Daxter" is not possible.

Guise, I just watched a video that said that Naughty Dog split into two development teams so they can make 2 games at once the new team said (Let me tell you, the new team is made of the Newbies and some old timers at Naughty Dog) "Why don't WE make Jak 4?" the whole Naughty Dog team scrapped it and team 1 didn't have any new project so they said "Hey, why don't WE make Jak 4?" The whole Naughty Dog team said that Jak 4 is now a possibility.

Naughty Dog you said it yourself, people today are still loving these games and this was your best creation and as great as uncharted and the last of us is, there is no changing that! Yes NaughtyDog originally planned to reboot the Jak and Daxter franchise, but what they wanted to do was take what they had learned from Uncharted and incorporate it. But sadly the team they had believed that they were not staying true to the franchise so the team dropped it. There will be another Jak game because NaughtyDog has a bright future ahead and its nearlly impossible for them to not finally get that spark for a Jak sequel. For the most part, you are right, nut they never said that making a jak game on ps3 would be a disservice; they worked on ideas on a new jak game and got in depth with it, but then they would look at what they had come up with, and said, "This isn't Jak and Daxter"....and they couldn't come up with a "propery" storyline for the game, so they thought if they had continued on those ideas, and made a game out of it, that that game would be terrible, and they would have done a disservice to the fans

Im 14 I got this the week it came out, I played this since I was 5 and lived the game. I loved the flow of the world and how you could do what ever, I have COD games but I still don't get the same satismaction as I do in jak, the closest is infamous with the free roaming and side missions, pleas we need another, I'm goin through school to be able to do this also, this is the reason I will do that career

Because that's FIFA. One of the top-selling games, and more importantly, a game bought by people who have not yet upgraded to a newer console. Jak and Daxter players largely have (with the exception of the original J&D, the series are T-rated), and so there won't be enough increased sales from making it for PS2.

Naughty Dog your games are amazing. Weather its Crash Bandicoot, Jak and Daxter, or Uncharted you do a great job everytime. But I think many of your fans (including me) are disappointed that there is no Jak 4 (I'm not counting the lost frontier). Please please please make Jak and Daxter 4. The Jak and Daxter collection is great but we need a fresh new Jak game.

i heard that they tried to make a jak 4 but due to the fact that they couldn't make a good enough story (or something along those lines) they stopped however they did say that they might try and get the uncharted team to work on the next jak which in my opinion would be a better move. Uncharted is a good series but i don't think it should go past 3 games

man i remember walking through a mall and seeing Jak II ads all over Gamestop, with standees and shit. I miss the days when the hottest game coming out was a platformer. I am really looking forward to the Last of Us and Uncharted, but i hope after the one team is done with Uncharted they make a more whimsical game.

I totally freaked out when I saw the Jak figurines! Is there any way I can get one? I'd probably have to make it myself, huh? :( I wish Naughty Dog had released merchandise for the game or even a soundtrack. They're music was amazing! I'd be cool if they released a collector's addition with a Daxter plushie or something. Who here agrees?
