I was lucky enough to see Lord of the Dance in 1997 at Manchester.I think this is Michael Flatley at his very best and what a team he had at this time too.They were all spectacular every one of them.I dont know how they pulled it off.They were amazing.I have seen the other shows like Feet of flames and others after this.But to me this outshines all of them.I will never forget it.Even watching it now after 23 years it still gives me the goosebumps!!!!

I could empathize with his comment that his heart is in Ireland. I'm an American Jew and part of my heart is in Israel. If I could split my time between countries I would, as I love both. And I love the fact that he said he would never quit. I've always had a lot of negativity in my life that unfortunately stood in my way, but at the same time, I also had a belief in never giving up, and I still feel that way. Hopefully, I'll be consistent with that one day.

I don't think that's accurate or fair. He was the creator, the leader. He sank every penny he had into what was a massive gamble. He gives all those involved the credit they deserve and a huge number of those dancers went in to have wonderful careers and travelled the world. I don't think any right minded person believes he did this in his own and he certainly hasn't claimed so.

You can still learn. Many people start later. You just have to work harder to get where you want to be before you "retire".

BAGS of time! It's not like ballet where you really have to be doing it from a very young age, you if you have the passion for it and work hard there's no reason at all you can't be competing within a few months from now. Find a teacher who can give you a few privates alongside your regular classes and you'll progress in no time. there's a website called Diddlyi which has some really good online workshops, that's helped me loads. Good luck!

Lord of the Dance was a spectacular show and I never get tired of watching it. Unfortunately, newer versions of the show, are a let-down. The music and the dances themselves have been changed so much, that it no longer resembles this classic production and it makes me sad.😢😒 The new "Lords", Matt Smith and Cathal Keaney are brilliant dancers, as they should be, since Michael hand picked them as his replacements but he should have kept the Dublin version of the show intact. Nowadays, the dancing has become too sexually suggestive, the music borders on heavy metal instead of beautiful Celtic compostions and the costumes are rediculous. The dark lord now looks like Robocob, or a Cyborg from Star Wars. The show should return to that magical time from 1996 because what we have now, is a mess.
