I just have watched the movie 100 times. I’m infatuated with that battle and the amazing courage shown by all the participants in the actual fighting. Thanks for your presentation.

HUGE fan of this movie. Little trivia for you sticklers out there. When they are sending ship to ship messages and the Captain is relaying that the Japanese fleet is heading to Midway, he is using binoculars that say "JAPAN" on them lol! Timestamp 1:13:25 in the movie!

Agreed. Major fan of this movie … vs the newer, CGI, AI adaptation with its poor acting and confused, immediate scene jumping. In the original your kept on the edge of your seat the whole film, great film stars with a real militarism about them - everyone know HOW to wear those uniforms!

Gordon Prange wrote a very good book about Midway as well as Pearl Harbor. I was 5 when I saw Tora Tora Tora with my Dad at a Drive in theater. I became interested in the war in the Pacific because of that movie. My Dad was a WW2 vet, Army. He was at Leyte in 1944 and Okinawa. 96th Inf Division, the Dead Eyes. The 96th would have gone in on the first wave of the invasion of the Japanese Mainland had the A-bomb not been used.

The real question is, did you see it in Senseround?

Charlton Heston was the "Disaster Man" from 1968-1977. His Characters usually died except the Airport movie. Saw this movie with My Dad a WW2 vet . It was in Sensoround sound and 3D its shattering bomb sounds were hard to take. It didn't bother my Dad at all!

I've always wondered about this movie. First of all, I love it and have watched it numerous times. Other than the very first time I originally saw it, I've never seen it again with the opening with Heston and his girlfriend. I think it's sad they have cut that. I think that's the point of war, some loved ones never return. Just my opinion.

I remmmber watching the movie when it first came out it had a thing called Sensurround ,which when the first bomb hit in the opening credits I swear my balls were rattled lol,semi fun fact the sense where Hestons mmmm jet crashed on deck killing him ,the actual pilot in that crash survived

I can never forgive this movie for crashing a jet onto the deck and calling it a dive-bomber. It would be interesting to redo some of the special effects to clear up some of the issues.

I wonder if the stock footage could be digitized and cleaned up for a modern audience.

Indeed the 2019 “Midway” was just poor when compared with the 1976 movie.

This 1976 Movie 🎥 is outstanding about Midway. The remake was turned into a chick flick, how disappointing that was.

5 lucky minutes turned the tide of the war in favor of the Allies. Admiral Yamamoto stated that he could wage war for 6 months. After that he guaranteed nothing. It came true almost to the day.

This movie is PROOF that CGI isn't the end all be all. The remake is a absolute joke. And Henry Fonda IS Nimitz just like George C Scot IS Patton and Gregory Peck IS Mac Arthur.

The original version is 100000 time better that the new version with computer generated spécial effects...the new version, by its mediocrity, is an insult to those who fought...same prevailing for the movie p"Pearl hqrbor" vs the master pieceTora Tora Tora

Charlton Heston was such a tough and courageous man that when the war broke out he joined the 'Air Force'.
@tracylarson19356 ай бұрын
You are right he uses the term Air Force, but the full name of the Air Force was Army Air Force which was shortened after the war and became its own branch of the military!

Each of the services, the navy, marines, army, army air force could only induct men so fast. Th USAAF expanded a thousand fold in 1942. It was also the more glamorous of the services
